2017 COLLEGE FOOTBALL – WEEK 3 BIG GAMES

AWAY QUICK THOUGHTS HOME
Computer Hope What happens when an unstoppable force comes up against an immovable object? We’re about to find out when Clemson’s D-Line goes up against Louisville QB Lamar Jackson! Louisville’s defense hasn’t been able to stop anyone so I think Clemson won’t have any issues scoring points & winning. What will be interesting is to see how Clemson stops Jackson. They dominated Auburn’s run game last week, what will that defense do this week? Computer Hope
Computer Hope I think whoever wins his game starts garnering a bit more attention. LSU is sniffing the top-10 while the Bulldogs have laid the wood against inferior competition in their first two weeks. Last year LSU beat Hail State 23-20 in Baton Rouge despite being 13-point favorites. I think Mississippi St. is better this year so a win is clearly possible. I’m guessing LSU DC Dave Aranda’s going to stop MSU’s run game so Nick Fitzgerald is going to have to throw. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Florida seems like a mess right now. They were humiliated by Michigan on national television in Week 1 & had to miss their 2nd game because of a hurricane. Instead of working out the kinks against N.Colorado, Florida will now host a 2-0 Tennessee team that gutted out a win over Georgia Tech & then dominated Indiana State. This is a huge confidence builder for the Vols, but an opportunity for Florida to right the ship & get back on track. Computer Hope
Computer Hope The last time these two squads met was the 2005 Rose Bowl where a Vince Young led Longhorns squad upset a Matt Leinart led Trjoans squad for the national championship. USC is going to win this game & they are going to win big. When you consider that Texas gave up 51 points to Maryland, USC might end up scoring 60 points. The key will be Texas not being embarrassed which I think will be difficult. Tough start for Tom Herman. Computer Hope
Computer Hope They aren’t beating Clemson & USC, but a win here by South Carolina will put the Gamecocks at 3-0 with a 2-0 record against SEC East teams & a win over a solid NC State squad. That’s a tremendous start to a season when a lot of teams are feasting on Sun Belt & FCS schools. Kentucky has been a bit surprising too. I’m not surprised they are 2-0 but I thought they would have dominated more. This is a big game for both programs. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Stanford has to be VERY careful here. The USC loss stings but this is still a very formidable football team that can win the Pac 12 North & get a rematch with USC in the Pac 12 championship game in which case a win probably means the playoffs. The Sun Devils are for real though. They are coming off a convincing road win over Arizona St. & RB Rashaad Penny is nothing short of outstanding. Stanford should be on upset alert. Computer Hope
Computer Hope BYU should be better than the 1-2 they’ve posted. The offense is downright dreadful & QB Tanner Magnum has been awful. I still think there is some value in this game because LSU beat the Cougars 27-0 & Utah just finished beating them 19-13. Wisconsin has looked outstanding in their first two games so it’ll be interesting where they fall on the spectrum established by LSU & Utah. A 28+ win for Wisconsin puts them with LSU. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Oregon St. hasn’t been able to stop anyone as their defense is allowing 46PPG! That doesn’t bode well in going up against a Mike Leach led offense! I still think this one is interesting though because Wazzou the last few years lets an early one go & I think Gary Andersen is a great head football coach. I’d love to see Washington St. get to 5-0 before hosting USC on September 29th, but they need to keep avoiding oddball upsets. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Ole Miss entered the season a disaster but so far the on-field results have been amazing. QB Shea Patterson has completed 77% of his passes for 918 yards & 9TD to only 1INT! He’s on pace to throw for over 5400 yards & 54TD. AJ Brown & DeMarkus Lodge have been ELITE. California, like Ole Miss, finds itself 2-0 after their upset win over UNC in Week 1. The winner here gets to 3-0 which I think is surprising for either program. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Week 3 isn’t the best slate of games, but I have Purdue/Missouri on here because it’ll be a chance for you to see QB insanity as David Blough and Drew Lock go head to head in what should be a “Defense Optional” backyard pick up game! Lock threw for over 500 yards with 7TD in Week 1 against Missouri State. Blough has the ability to throw for 700 yards whenever the mood strikes him. A meaningless game, but tons of fireworks! 2017 COLLEGE FOOTBALL – WEEK 2 BIG GAMES

AWAY QUICK THOUGHTS HOME
Computer Hope In some ways this is a lot like Alabama/Florida St. in that a loss here isn’t a complete killer. There is some definite revenge factor in play for the Sooners as Ohio St. came to Norman last season & beat OU convincingly 45-24, but I do think last year’s Oklahoma team was better than this year’s & this year’s Ohio St. squad is better than last year’s version. That doesn’t bode well for Oklahoma. OU’s O-line vs. tOSU’s D-line determines this one. Computer Hope
Computer Hope I don’t care if USC is playing at home, if the Trojans play this week the way they did last week against W. Michigan, then USC is going to see their first loss since September 23rd of last season! I have these teams meeting in the Pac 12 title game so this should give us a little preview. At this point I’m not sure USC matches up well. They gave up a lot of rush yards to WMU & Bryce Love should have a field day. Stanford’s TE will be too much. Computer Hope
Computer Hope We are going to find out an awful lot about Auburn in this one. Last week’s game against Georgia Southern couldn’t have went better for Auburn from an offensive execution standpoint. The same can be said for Clemson in their opener against Kent State. New QB Kelly Bryant has to be brimming with confidence. Clemson has arguably the best D-Line in the nation along with Kendall Joseph in the middle. Will Auburn be able to run on them? Computer Hope
Computer Hope Georgia in South Bend doesn’t come around very often so expect fireworks in this one. Notre Dame showed out last week against Temple, but the Bulldogs are a completely different type of team. To me this feels like a measuring stick game for Notre Dame against an extremely talented SEC squad. Can the Irish block the edge? Can the running game be effective against Trenton Thompson? Can the secondary improve? Lots of questions. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Boise opened with an uninspiring home win over Troy 24-13, but now face a Wazzou team that believes it can be a factor in the Pac 12 North. Last year the Cougars went to Boise and lost 31-28 to start the season 0-2 before winning 8 straight to put themselves in position to win the Pac 12 but faltered to Colorado & Washington before completing tanking against Minnesota in a bowl game. I’d like to see if Wazzou can avoid an early loss. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Oregon gave up quite a few yards last week to an FCS school. They were also pretty sloppy & undisciplined with a couple of turnovers and 12 penalties. BUT GOOD GRIEF THE OFFENSE looked fantastic scoring 77 points! Nebraska’s D gave up 36 points last week to Arkansas St. which means this one could get ugly early. I think we are all waiting for Nebraska to reemerge & I really like Tanner Lee here, but the black shirts need to show up fast! Computer Hope
Computer Hope TCU looked like a team that could be a dark horse playoff contender last week when they beat Jackson St. 63-0. Leaving competition aside for the moment, TCU did EVERYTHING well. Arkansas looked pretty good too in their 49-7 win over Florida A&M but not nearly as dominant as the Frogs. They established the run game well which is what they want to do. I think this game will tell us quite a bit about TCU. A big win changes the Big XII. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Here is the thing. Drew Lock, Damarea Crockett & J’Mon Moore are legit ballers for Missouri! Lock threw for 521yds/7TD last week in Mizzou’s 72-43 win over Montana State! Crockett ran for over 200yds & Moore had 187yds/2TD on just 4 catches! The rub here is that Mizzou gave up 43 to Montana St. while South Carolina put up 35 on a nasty NC State defense. I think SC wins big & starts getting national attention. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Battle for the Cyhawk Trophy! One of my favorite rivalry games, Iowa travels to Ames to tackle their in-state rivals. I thought Iowa did a good job last week beating Wyoming 24-3 & proving the Josh Allen hype train might have been a bit too big. Josey Jewell was an ABSOLUTELY monster on defense & Akrum Wadley was steady running the football. Iowa St. also won last week 42-24 over N.Iowa. I think this tells us more about Iowa. Computer Hope
Computer Hope HOLY WAR! I was really surprised last week by just how thoroughly dominated BYU was by LSU in the Cougars opening 27-0 loss. Granted the game was in New Orleans, but BYU looked like a high school team which was surprising. Utah opened with a 37-16 win over North Dakota. If BYU can bounce back & win it certainly tells us that Utah isn’t very good and that the rebuild this season might be worse than what they hoped for. Computer Hope

2017 COLLEGE FOOTBALL – WEEK 1 BIG GAMES

AWAY QUICK THOUGHTS HOME
Computer Hope If you are going to play a game like this then both teams are wise to do it early as an early season loss won’t hurt as bad as a late season one. If you love potential NFL picks then this is the game for you. What will be interesting to me is seeing how well Florida St. handles the old school ways of Alabama’s offense that we’ll surely see. When Alabama just keeps pounding the rock with Bo Scarbrough, can FSU handle the physical pounding? Computer Hope
Computer Hope This game got a lot easier for the Wolverines when Florida announced that star WR Antonio Callaway was suspended. With the Gators still undecided about their QB situation, it’ll be interesting to see how Michigan’s front-5 guys get after the eventual Gators QB. Michigan is exceptionally young on the back end but it might not matter. This game has a lot of meaning for both teams as both have questions that will look better with a victory. Computer Hope
Computer Hope I’m not sure I’d trust Danny Etling all that much as my starting QB so it’ll be interesting to see if Ed Orgeron can avoid the pitfalls that Les Miles fell into by passing the football when LSU should ground & pound and rely on their defense. Derrius Guice is practically unstoppable so playing keep away & keep the defense fresh is optimal strategy. BYU has some upside & returns all 3 starting LBs so it’ll be interesting to see Guice test them. Computer Hope
Computer Hope I think both of these teams are going to be very good this year & it’s almost unbelievable that we get a game like this. South Carolina QB Jake Bentley is poised to become a household name & NC State is going to bring tremendous pressure with the studs they have along the D-Line. South Carolina returns 4 starters on the O-Line meaning this game should be won in the trenches. NC State QB Ryan Finley could decide the outcome. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Maryland is an interesting team and this could be a much tougher game than Texas expects. The Terps are having to replace starting QB Perry Hills, but Caleb Henderson is a solid option & Maryland has some very good weapons on offense like Ty Johnson & DJ Moore. Maryland also returns 7 starters on defense with all their good players returning meaning they’ll be rocks. Huge test for Texas that could give them a lot of confidence. Computer Hope
Computer Hope I think Indiana AD Fred Glass made a masterful strategic move by moving aside Kevin Wilson and giving Tom Allen the HC job. We’ll see how it turns out but I think it was the right move. What’s interesting here is that the Buckeyes lost Malik Hooker, Marshon Lattimore & Gareon Conley from a wicked secondary while Indiana’s strength should be their passing attack. It’ll be almost impossible but Indiana is a lot better than you think. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Technically not a home game, Georgia Tech is playing this one in Atlanta so I think it’s a home game for the Yellow Jackets. I think the heat gets even hotter for Butch Jones if the Vols open with a loss, but Georgia Tech is an under the radar contender in the ACC Coastal after a transition year last season and Tennessee is dealing with a massive exodus of players to the NFL. Win & UT starts thinking SEC East. A loss? The wheels come off. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Trick game for those Hairy Dawgs! Appalachian St. is going to be one of those teams we hear about all season long as potential New Year’s Day bowls if they can get through their schedule. They have a lot of experience coming back from a team that went 10-3 last season & 11-2 in 2015. Georgia might still be working through QB issues and while I think Georgia’s defense could carry them, App State almost knocked off Tennessee last year. Computer Hope
Computer Hope I’m not overly thrilled with this matchup because I think neither team is a title contender but both coaches are on the hot seat and a loss definitely turns up the heat! It will be interesting to see UCLA QB Josh Rosen coming back from injury & see how his command of the offense improves over his freshman numbers. It’ll also be interesting to see how Trayveon Williams & Christian Kirk perform against UCLA’s defense. Both need wins. Computer Hope
Computer Hope I think West Virginia will be one of the weaker teams in the Big XII and I’m excited to see whether or not the Hokies can dominate a game like this. Virginia Tech’s back-7 on defense is NASTY and they should completely shut down the WVU offense which will be significant given Dana Holgorsen’s reputation as an offensive guy. I’m also curious to see how VT’s QB plays. Jerod Evans left huge shoes to fill so getting production from the QB is key. Computer Hope

NCAA FOOTBALL POWER 25 – 2016 FINAL RANKINGS

RANK TEAM COMMENTS
#1 Computer Hope Deshaun Watson might not have won the Heisman but he proved he was the best player in college football by taking down the Tide 35-31 in dramatic fashion and handing Clemson their first national title since 1981! The Tigers did the ultimate by beating both Urban Meyer and Nick Saban in the playoffs which makes the championship all the sweeter. Watson was huge. The defensive effort was fantastic. And Dabo was well…Dabo! Swinney is now 70-13 the past six seasons. He’s proven ELITE.
#2 Computer Hope What if Bo Scarbrough doesn’t get hurt in the 3rd quarter? The Tide were up 17-7 when Scarbrough went down & then were outscored 28-14. Why didn’t Alabama hold on the last play of the game forcing Clemson to kick a FG to send the game into OT? Lots of question surrounding this loss for the Tide, but you can’t deny that Jalen Hurts was terrible, the offense couldn’t convert on 3rd down and the defense couldn’t find a way to get off the field against Watson’s passing attack. The best team won.
#3 Computer Hope If you don’t believe full games out of Jake Butt and Jabril Peppers is worth at last 2 points for the Wolverines then I have no idea what to tell you. If you watched them all season, it was easy to see that Michigan was right behind Alabama & Clemson. They were possibly with them assuming full health. The Wolverines dominated the Buckeyes in Columbus yet lost. They dealt with injuries against Florida St. & lost by one point. This ranking is based on “What if?”, but I think Michigan deserves it.
#4 Computer Hope What an unbelievable way to win the Rose Bowl!? The Trojans go up 20-7 on Penn St. only to see the Nittany Lions roar back to take a 49-35 lead into the 4th quarter by outscoring USC 28-8 in the 3rd quarter. Not to be outdone, the Trojans outscore PSU 17-0 in the 4th capped off by a last second FG that gave USC a 52-49 win! USC won 9 straight to end the season including wins over Penn St., Colorado, Washington, UCLA & Notre Dame. USC definitely proved they were the class of the Pac 12.
#5 Computer Hope The season ended on a disappointing note with the loss to USC in the Rose Bowl, but how amazing has the transformation of Penn St. been under James Franklin? Franklin in his 3rd year led the Lions to an 11-3 record which included wins over Ohio St., Iowa, Michigan St. & Wisconsin en route to a Big 10 championship, their first since 2008. The best part is that it can only get better. QB Trace McSorley & RB Saquon Barkley return next year & Penn St. is recruiting well. The Lions are B-A-C-K!
#6 Computer Hope I’ve been making FSU pay all season for the disastrous loss to Louisville back on September 17th, but if you simply consider it a loss, FSU lost to Louisville, North Carolina by 2 and Clemson by 3. Dalvin Cook was arguably the best RB in the nation. FSU ended the season 10-3 on a 5-game winning streak including a stunning 33-32 win over Michigan in the Orange Bowl. Defensively, the Noles were A LOT better than their stats would indicate. If their TO margin was great, FSU could be the champs.
#7 Computer Hope In much the same way the Seminoles paid for their loss to Louisville, the Buckeyes lived off their early season demolition of Oklahoma. The Buckeyes were definitely exposed in a 31-0 embarrassment at the hands of Clemson, but Ohio St. didn’t look so good for a lot of the season. They lost to Penn St., but barely escaped games against Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan St. & Northwestern. The playoff committee backed themselves into a corner with Ohio St. & they shouldn’t have played Clemson.
#8 Computer Hope The Badgers took care of business in the Cotton Bowl beating a feisty Western Michigan squad to end the year 11-3. It’s hard to rank Wisconsin any lower than this. They beat LSU to start the season & their only 3 losses came against Ohio St., Michigan & Penn St., all by 7 points. Paul Chryst seems like the heir apparent to Barry Alavarez & he should be in Madison for a very long time. In his first two years with Wisconsin, Chryst is 21-6 with a Big 10 West title & 2 bowl wins. I think they only get better.
#9 Computer Hope Like Michigan, this is more of a ranking based on top end talent. When LSU was healthy, they combined an efficient passing attack with Danny Etling behind a DEVASTATING rushing combination of Leonard Fournette and Derius Guice. The defense was arguably the best in the nation which really begs the question of how it was possible for LSU to lose games behind an ELITE rushing attack and an ELITE defense? That is the riddle Ed Orgeron needs to solve because LSU is too good for 8-4.
#10 Computer Hope Losing to Alabama 24-7 in the national semifinal dulled an amazing season for the Huskies who finished 12-2 as Pac 12 champions in Chris Petersen’s 3rd season in Seattle. The loss to Alabama should be instructive going forward & the Huskies are poised to dominate the Pac 12 North for years to come. The one knock is that UW has to beat quality teams. They lost to USC & Alabama with their big wins coming against Stanford, Utah & Washington State. I think it’s a problem they’ll rectify.
#11 Computer Hope The Sooners paid dearly for early season losses to Houston & Ohio St., but roared back winning 10 straight games, going undefeated in Big XII play and then routing Auburn in the Sugar Bowl to finish 11-2. Given their competition, the Sooners possibly saved the best for last. The defense held a solid Auburn running attack in check while the offense rolled behind Baker Mayfield, Joe Mixon, Dede Westbrook and Samarje Perine. Given Ohio St.’s & Washington’s performance in the playoffs, Oklahoma makes a case with a great year.
#12 Computer Hope Even if Colorado was completely unmotivated to play in the Alamo Bowl, Oklahoma St,’s dismantling of the Buffs 38-8 was impressive no matter how you slice it. The Cowboys were up 31-0 going into the 4th quarter in dominant fashion surpassed only by Clemson’s demolition of Ohio State. If you believe the refs robbed the Cowboys in the C.Michigan loss then OK-State’s only real losses were on the road to Baylor & Oklahoma. The 10-3 reads more like 11-2. The Cowboys will be in the national title chase in 2017. You’ve been warned!
#13 Computer Hope Down 24-0 at halftime to Arkansas in the Belk Bowl, the Hokies stormed back outscoring the Hogs 35-0 in the 2nd half to end their season 10-4 with an ACC Coastal title. Take out oddball losses to Georgia Tech & Syracuse & the Hokies could have been 12-2 with a much better bowl slot. First year HC Justin Fuente was a huge success in Blacksburg in his first season. JUCO QB Jerod Evans was a revelation & the Hokies rushing attack gave VT a new offensive identity. That attack with a Bud Foster defense is a dangerous combo.
#14 Computer Hope Losing to Oklahoma 35-19 in the Sugar Bowl isn’t that bad considering Oklahoma probably had their best game of the year and if the Sooners played like that against Ohio St. & Houston, they would have been 12-0 & in the playoffs. War Eagle got off to a rough 1-2 start but their eventual 8-5 record includes losses to Clemson, Alabama & Oklahoma! Those 3 teams finished a combined 39-4! They also lost to Texas A&M early when the Aggies looked like a playoff team & Georgia when Kamryn Pettway was hurt. Very good team. Tough schedule without solid QB.
#15 Computer Hope Let’s just assume Colorado simply wasn’t interested in the Alamo Bowl, and frankly who could blame them considering they were angling for the Rose Bowl and missed out to a team they finished ahead of in the Pac 12 South. The Buffaloes had a banner year finishing 10-4 with a Pac 12 South title when most pundits predicted them to finish dead last before the season began. The real question is whether or not the Buffaloes can build on this breakthrough season. QB Sefo Liufau & a ton of defensive players won’t be returning in 2017.
#16 Computer Hope The Cardinal held off a pretty good North Carolina rally in the Sun Bowl to preserve a 25-23 win & finish the year 10-3. Stanford suffered a bit with 3 losses in 4 games in the early/mid season to start the year 4-3. With Washington & Washington St. playing so well in the North, Stanford was out before they really started. The losses weren’t so bad though. UW on the North. Colorado won the South & Wazzou finished 2nd in the North. Those 3 combined to finish 30-11. Tough way to finish for Christian McCaffery’s career,  but 10-3 isn’t awful.
#17 Computer Hope Early season losses for teams like Oklahoma & LSU took those squads out of the national spotlight. For the Redbirds it was almost the opposite. Louisville lived off a 63-20 hammering of Florida St. to a 9-1 start with their only loss coming at Clemson by 6 points. At that point they were still in the mix for a playoff spot. Then they lost to Houston and then to Kentucky and then to LSU in the Citrus Bowl where Lamar Jackson was exposed against an excellent defense. This is a top-20 team but the 9-4 certainly feels disappointing. They should have been 12-1.
#18 Computer Hope The Broncos proved they belonged by outscoring Wisconsin 16-10 over three quarters of the Cotton Bowl. Unfortunately, Wisconsin outscored them 14-0 in the 1st quarter giving the Badgers a 24-16 win and ended WMU’s perfect season. The loss was tough. Even worse was losing HC PJ Fleck after the season to Minnesota. It’s an odd move to be sure considering WMU could have potentially went 13-1/14-0 next season & Fleck would have been in even more demand. Then again, it’s the Big 10 West and not the Big 10 East. Fleck might be on to something.
#19 Computer Hope Utah probably got more than they bargained for from Indiana in the Foster Farms Bowl. If Richard Lagow was any kind of QB, Utah probably falls to the Hoosiers & doesn’t rank in the top-25. Fortunately, Joe Williams put on a show & ran for 222 yards against an overwhelmed IU defense. Utah had a solid year going 9-4 although the loss to Colorado had to hurt because it cost them the South. They lived off their USC win but it’s worth nothing that the Utes’ 4 losses came by a combined 19 points. Like Colorado, it’ll be interesting to see how Utah reloads with USC back.
#20 Computer Hope Florida isn’t back to where they want to be, but I think the program scored a big win with Jim McElwain staying in Gainesville when rumors were swirling he could have taken off for Oregon. In his 2 seasons at Florida, the Gators have won SEC East titles. Sure they have lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship game both years & they have lost to Florida St. each year but progress takes a bit of time. Last year they were blown out by Michigan in their bowl game. This year they blow out Iowa. They aren’t back to being a top-10 program but they aren’t far.
#21 Computer Hope It was SO REFRESHING to see that Hurricane swagger on display in the Russell Athletic Bowl. THE U came to play & destroyed a solid West Virginia team 31-14. QB Brad Kaaya put on a clinic while the Miami defense held a Dana Holgorsen offense to just 14 points & 11 first downs! It was a tale of 3 season for Miami. They started off by winning 4 straight. Then they lost 4 straight before ending with 5 straight wins. Three of the 4 losses were close & those 4 losses came to Florida St., Notre Dame, Virginia Tech & North Carolina. Pretty good for Mark Richt’s first year.
#22 Computer Hope It took the Bulls overtime to defeat South Carolina, but USF pulled it out 46-39 to finish 11-2 which is the best record in the history of the program that started back in 1997! QB Quinton Flowers and RB Marlon Mack had outstanding years leading a dominating running attack that ranked 5th in the nation at a tick above 285 rushing yards per game. An untimely loss to Temple kept the Bulls from potentially winning the AAC championship but what a season. Taggart bolted USF for Oregon, but the Bulls landed Charlie Strong! I think USF will be fine in the transition.
#23 Computer Hope On the one hand you have a San Diego St. team the destroyed Houston in the Las Vegas Bowl 34-10 with a massive defensive effort that all but destroyed the Cougars rushing attack and picked off Houston QB Greg Ward four times. That Aztec team finished as MW Champs with an 11-3 record. RB Donnel Pumphrey ends his career as the all time leader in rushing yards in D1 history. On the other you have a SD Stat team that lost to S.Alabama, Colorado St. & Wyoming. Weird. HC Rocky Long has put together back to back 11-3 seasons. He’s got the program humming.
#24 Computer Hope I would have liked the Mountaineers coming out a little motivated to play than they showed against Miami-FL in the bowl, but it’s hard to argue a 10-3 season in which your only losses came against Oklahoma, Oklahoma St. and Miami-FL. Nobody picked WVU to finish 3rd in the Big XII so the season was a rousing success. HC Dana Holgorsen has now improved WVU in each season since 2004. His guys are in place & the program is definitely his. I think he has WVU at a point where they need to start competing with Oklahoma for conference titles. That’s the next step.
#25 Computer Hope BYU flew under the radar for most of the season because of their 1-3 start, but the Cougars finished 8-1 in their last 9 games including a 24-21 bowl win over Wyoming that was a lot more impressive than it looks. You can argue BYU didn’t beat anyone of note although they did post wins over Michigan St., Mississippi St., Cincinnati & Arizona, but their 4 losses came by a combined 8 points! Those losses were to UCLA, Boise St., West Virginia & Utah. If BYU finishes 12-0 they were playing in a New Year’s 6, but could they have had an argument for a playoff berth?

DROPPING OUT

#16 WASHINGTON ST. COUGARS: Love the Cougs but they ended the season on a 3-game losing streak to finish 8-5. They were better than this. They also lost their bowl game to Minnesota which is hard to justify considering the mess that Minnesota football during this time. If Wazzou can quit losing early games to FCS teams they can turn into a consistent 10-win team which would put some pressure on Chris Petersen and Washington. Luke Falk coming back next season is going to be interesting.

#17 PITTSBURGH PANTHERS: Really an odd year. Pitt finished 8-5 with 4 close losses but also posted wins over Penn St. & Clemson. I kept them out of the top-25 due to the 5 losses and the bowl loss to Northwestern which didn’t make a lot of sense although Northwestern did become “that” team that nobody in the Big 10 wanted to play. No team in college football had two better wins than Pittsburgh, but the five losses?

#20 IOWA HAWKEYES: It was somewhat of a disappointing season for Iowa given that they went undefeated last year during the regular season, but the Hawkeyes had a chance to salvage a disappointing season by beating Michigan & Nebraska down the stretch. The problem was losing 30-3 to a Florida team looking to crash for the 2nd season in a row. This lead to an 8-5 finish for Iowa which isn’t awful all things considered, but still left something to be desired. The losses to Northwestern and North Dakota State probably should have been wins which could have meant a 10-3 finish which would have looked better as a follow up to 2015’s 11-2 season. I’d love to see Iowa breakthrough and get to the playoffs and even win a national championship. I think it would amazing for college football, but I’m not sure Kirk Ferentz is the guy to get that done.

#21 ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS: Completely collapsed in the 2nd half against Virginia Tech in the bowl game to finish 7-6. When Arkansas was playing at full tilt they were one of the most difficult teams to handle let alone defeat, but the team couldn’t find any real consistency from week to week. There isn’t a bad loss on the schedule outside of Missouri, but that also describes the perils of living in the SEC West. If you play anyone of note out of conference, you could easily be a top-20 squad with 4-5 losses on the year.

#22 TEMPLE OWLS: Top-25 teams shouldn’t be losing bowl games to Wake Forest. Temple was without HC Matt Rhule who bolted for Baylor, but the Owls were still able to win the AAC and get to 10 wins. It’s more interesting that Rhule would jump ship at Temple for Baylor. Art Briles showed you could potentially compete for championships in Waco and I suppose Rhule thinks he can get the Bears over the hump. That’s tough. I wonder why he wouldn’t potentially wait for other jobs to open up given the state Baylor’s program is in currently.

2016 NCAA FOOTBALL – BOWL SEASON PREVIEW!

AWAY QUICK THOUGHTS HOME
Computer Hope New Mexico Bowl: New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl seems fitting. You really can’t say enough about what a tremendous job Bob Davie has done for the Lobos. New Mexico was a combined 3-33 in the 3-years before Davie took over. How he has them at potentially a 9-4 season with back-to-back bowl games in his 5th year. As for the game, New Mexico has the nation’s best rush offense so UTSA will need to figure out a way to stop it if they’re to win. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Las Vegas Bowl: Talk about a consolation bowl for early watching! The 9-3 Cougars take on the 10-3 Aztecs! Both of these teams were thought to win their respective conferences. Houston didn’t but SD State did get their revenge win over Wyoming to take the Mountain West. Tune in for Houston QB Gary Ward & DT Ed Oliver. Both guys have been outstanding this season. The Cougs won’t have Tom Herman but this is a fantastic early game. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Camellia Bowl: Jason Candle did an outstanding job in his first year as HC of Toledo. The Rockets went 9-3 and won the MAC East. Their 3 losses came against W.Michigan, Ohio & BYU. Not bad at all. Appalachian St. has an outstanding defense. At 9-3 they have 2 losses to Tennessee and Miami-FL! It’ll be interesting to see if the Mountaineers can put a stop to Toledo’s Cody Thompson, Logan Woodside & Kareem Hunt. This game will be very compelling. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Cure Bowl: Somewhat of a ho-hum bowl game as 6-6 UCF takes on 7-5 Arkansas State. UCF has a couple of tremendous corners in Shaquill Griffin and DJ Killings. They’ve been a terror to QBs all season long & that shouldn’t change. Helping them is OLB Shaquem Griffin who has totaled 11 sacks and 19 TFL on the season. Ark State is mostly a running team although they don’t do it particularly well. I’d tune in for the Knights defensive playmakers. Computer Hope
Computer Hope New Orleans Bowl: A couple of 6-6 teams going at it from CUSA and the Sun Belt conference. Obviously this is going to be one of those games that nobody is paying particular attention to but both teams feature a pretty good running back. Southern Miss’ Ito Smith ran for 1300+ yards & 15TD averaging 5.5ypc, while ULL’s Elijah McGuire ran for 1,028 yards & 7TD. This is HC Mark Hudspeth’s 5th bowl in 6 years as HC for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He’s done well. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Miami Beach Bowl: This game is played in Marlins Park which is the home of the Miami Marlins which is pretty cool. This is a bad matchup for C.Michigan. After a nice 3-0 start which saw them beat Oklahoma St., CMU went just 3-5 in MAC play & 3-6 in their final 9. Tulsa’s offense is prolific! They have a couple of thousand yard rushers, a thousand yard receiver & a three thousand yard passer. I think Tulsa scores 50+ in this game & dominates. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Boca Raton Bowl: Every time I hear the words Boca Raton I always think of Episode 9 of Season 1 of The Sopranos entitled Boca about Junior Soprano going down to Boca with one of his girlfriends, Bobbi Sanfillipo. The entire episode revolves around Junior’s amazing cunnilingus skills that eventually gets out. The part I always liked best is the end when Junior shoves Bobbi’s head in pie. Oh the game! Lots of scoring here with two good offenses. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Poinsettia Bowl: This is one of the underrated bowls I’m interested in. Wyoming HC Craig Bohl did a helluva job this year with the Cowboys. Nobody picked them to be this good, but Wyoming pulled off a coup to win the MW Mountain division & posted wins over Boise St. and San Diego State! BYU is tough. They went 8-4 but their 4 losses came by a total of 8 points! The Cougars are THIS CLOSE to being 12-0! Kalani Sitake did a GREAT job at BYU! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Idaho Potato Bowl: What a job Paul Petrino has done in Moscow! The Vandals were 3-21 the two years before Petrino took over and in his first two seasons they were even worse at 2-21. Last year they improved to 4-8 & in Petrino’s 4th season the Vandals are bowl bound at 7-5! They also went 6-1 in their last 7 games! They’ll have it tough with Colorado State. The Rams can score with a very balanced offense. Tough game for Idaho but great year. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Bahamas Bowl: If Old Dominion doesn’t lose on the road to W.Kentucky, the Monarchs finish 10-2 and undefeated in CUSA. The probably win the conference title and get to 11-2. HC Bobby Wilder has this program humming & I wouldn’t doubt if they become THE premier team in CUSA. A win here makes them 10-3 on the season & I expect them to take care of E.Michigan. EMU HC Chris Creighton was 3-21 his 1st 2 seasons. This year EMU went 7-5!! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Armed Forces Bowl: How is this for disappointing! If Navy blows out Temple in the AAC Championship game, they had an outside shot at jumping W.Michigan & getting to the Cotton Bowl to play Wisconsin. Instead the Middies are playing Louisiana Tech in the Armed Forces Bowl. The Bulldogs had a solid year but their defense is suspect & if Navy comes to play they should have no issues forcing the issue on offense. Win & Navy finishes at 10-4. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Dollar General Bowl: Frank Solich has done an outstanding job with the Bobcats. Western Michigan got all the publicity this season, and rightly so, but Ohio’s 8-5 record is a bit misleading. The Bobcats never lost a game by more than 9 points and 4 of those 5 losses were by 7 points or less. That 8-5 record is close to 12-1! Troy is exactly the same. The Trojans had a great 9-3 season but 2 losses were close so 9-3 could be 11-1. This should be a very good bowl. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Hawaii Bowl: And this is where we make the case for too many bowl games as the 6-7 Rainbows get in via exemption to play Middle Tennessee State. A lot of credit has to go to Hawaii 1st year HC Nick Rolovich for getting Hawaii into a bowl given that over the past 4 seasons the Rainbows have an 11-39 record. Hawaii’s last bowl game was in 2010 & their last bowl win was in 2006. Tune in for MTSU QB Brent Stockstill & RB I’Tavius Murray. They’re big! Computer Hope
Computer Hope St. Petersburg Bowl: LOVE THIS GAME! Talk about a wild season for Miami-OH! They lose their first 6 games, but win their final 6 to get bowl eligible! Some of that was schedule, but the switch to QB Gus Ragland made a HUGE difference. Ragland is 6-0 as a starter this season with 15TD to ZERO picks! Nobody picked Miami-OH to get to 6-6 & now they get an SEC team in a bowl! Outside of WMU/Wisconsin, this is the MAC bowl game to watch! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Quick Lane Bowl: Potentially a snoozer, Maryland and Boston College are a couple of high major squads coming off 6-6 regular seasons. These are a couple of teams still finding their way. Steve Addazio at BC is still figuring out his rushing attack without Andre Williams and Tyler Murphy. DJ Durkin obviously has a defensive reputation & the Terps improved defensively but still have a ways to go. The bowl is nice here but both teams actually need the reps. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Independence Bowl: The funny thing about Vanderbilt is that their 6-6 record could easily be 10-2. The Commodores have some excellent wins on the resume. They beat MTSU, WKU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Georgia. Four of their 6 losses were close! Derek Mason has done an outstanding job! They’ll be competitive. I want to see which NC State shows up. The NC State against Clemons & Florida St? Or the NC State against Louisville? I hope the former. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Heart of Dallas Bowl: The Black Knights get to their first bowl since 2010! If you feel like you are having deja vu, don’t worry. These two teams actually played each other on October 22 when North Texas upended Army 35-18! Making matters worse? North Texas got to a bowl game by exemption given their 5-7 record. That’s too bad. Army deserves better. How amazing is it that the Knights have wins over both Temple & Navy? What are the odds? Computer Hope
Computer Hope Military Bowl: Temple wins the AAC so they get Wake Forest in the Military Bowl? No wonder Matt Rhule left out in a hurry for Baylor!! This feels like a huge slap in the face to the Owls. Temple is on a 7-game winning streak. They are 10-3 & a conference champion. Wake Forest is 6-6 & 2-6 in their last 8 games. They finished 5th in the ACC Atlantic with a 3-5 conference record. I get the conference tie ins but this is a huge opportunity lost for college football. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Holiday Bowl: This should be a pretty cool game regarding contrasts in styles. Minnesota wants to control the clock with their running game while Wazzou obviously wants to light up the scoreboard with their passing attack. What’s interesting here is the Gophers have a very good run D but a suspect pass D. I wonder if they’ll try to rush 3-4 and drop 7-8 and dare the Cougars to run the football? Teams have tried this and the Cougs have made them pay! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Cactus Bowl: A couple of close road losses to Wyoming & Air Force prevented the Broncos from a 12-0 & potentially 13-0 season which would have robbed Western Michigan of the Cotton Bowl. WMU is a better story so I’m glad it worked out, but Boise has to be fairly happy it was able to keep Bryan Harsin. There was some rumor about a move to Oregon which would have been tough. A win here make Harsin 32-8 in his first 3 years on the blue turf. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Pinstripe Bowl: This is a pretty neat bowl game that will be played in Yankee Stadium. I thought the Panthers had a good shot at winning the Coastal this year but 3 close losses took them from 11-1 to 8-4. The same could be said for Northwestern. I thought the Wildcats became the team nobody wanted to face in the Big 10. A couple of odd losses early & a loss to Minnesota took a potential 9-3 & made it 6-6. Both teams are going to try & run the ball. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Russell Athletic Bowl: OLD SCHOOL BIG EAST!!! I love this game. Couple of interesting subplots here. Miami-FL isn’t great but the Mountaineers are still looking for some validation of their 10-2 record. A win here to get to 11-2 at least shows they can win outside the Big XII. For the Canes, they were 0-3 in close games so that 8-4 is VERY close to 11-1. They’ve won 4-straight & really want to go out on a high note. Brad Kaaya can improve his stock here. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Foster Farms Bowl: Getting better by subtraction? Former Indiana HC Kevin Wilson led the Hoosiers to back-to-back bowl games for the first time in 25 seasons yet resigned over philosophical differences and DC Tom Allen takes over. I don’t think Hoosier Nation could be any happier with Allen as HC and some think it was a preemptive move to keep Allen from taking a different HC job. What a wild ride in Bloomington! GO HOOSIERS! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Texas Bowl: This is an intriguing game on paper given that both teams are 8-4, but this has the feel to me of a K-State blowout win potentially because I’m not sure a lot of the A&M players will feel like this one is worth playing. Guys like Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall have nothing really to gain here. On the other hand, would Texas A&M dare to make a move away from Kevin Sumlin should the Aggies get blown out and turn in another 8-5 season? Computer Hope
Computer Hope Birmingham Bowl: Outstanding season for the Bulls and former HC Willie Taggart. Unfortunately Taggart has taken his talents to Eugene Oregon as the next HC of the Ducks so a new era in USF football starts with Charlie Strong! I love the move for South Florida because I think Strong is an OUTSTANDING recruiter and putting him in Florida should put a lot of teams on notice. It would be pretty cool to see USF finish the season 11-2. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Belk Bowl: This should be a really fun game. In his first season at Virginia Tech, HC Justin Fuente has really done some solid things with the Hokies offense making more of a run-centric unit and that will pay massive dividends down the road given Bud Foster’s defensive prowess. It’s not unlike what Arkansas does under Bret Bielema. VT will utilize their pass a bit more, but you get the gist. I really hope VT gets that 10th win but Arkansas needs a W too. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Alamo Bowl: This is the first game you can really start looking at conference strengths. By all accounts, Oklahoma St. was the 2nd best team in the Big XII. I’d say the Buffaloes were the 3rd best team in the Pac 12 behind Washington & USC. Does a #3 Pac 12 team beat the #2 Big XII team? The big matchup here will be the UC secondary against Mason Rudolph. I don’t think the Cowboys are going to able to air it out & Coach Mac gets the Buffs to 11-3! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Liberty Bowl: I think some people are a bit disappointed in Kirby Smart’s first season as HC of the Bulldogs but Georgia’s 7-5 record includes 3 games that were lost by a total of 4 points. The ball bounces the other way & UGA is 10-2 & SEC East champs. They beat UNC & Auburn. I don’t think Nick Chubb was 100% all season & Jacob Eason was a true frosh QB. Leonard Floyd & Jordan Jenkins were huge losses. Win or lose here, Georgia did well. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Sun Bowl: Not saying this was a wasted season because the Tar Heels could still get a bowl win & finish 9-4, but when you look at back at their season, the Tar Heels should be 11-1. That would have won the Coastal & given UNC a good shot at New Year’s 6 bowl even if they lost to Clemson. Don’t dismiss Stanford in this one. I think the Cardinal is looking for respect & getting to 10-3 could potentially put them in the final AP Top-15. Love this game. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Music City Bowl: Games like this are sort of neat because both are historically great programs and if you look at the jerseys alone it’s cool to see them, but this isn’t the mid-1990s. Nebraska is Big 10 #6 going up against The Vols are are SEC #6/7. What could make this game interesting is a blowout win for the Huskers. Butch Jones is on thin ice as it is. Could a blowout win for Nebraska combined with the 49ers firing Chip Kelly lead Kelly to Tennessee? Computer Hope
Computer Hope Arizona Bowl: It’s pretty cool for South Alabama to get to a bowl game even if it is with a 6-6 record, but this is a massive mismatch that the Falcons should take advantage of. Air Force is 8-4 and on a roll having won 5 straight including wins over Colorado St. and Boise State. They have one of the most dominant rushing attacks in the nation & South Alabama is going to be overwhelmed when they see it. This opened with AF -15. They cover. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Orange Bowl: I’d expect Michigan to come out and dominate this game. Florida St. is better than their 9-3 record, and as talented as Dalvin Cook is at tailback, I have a hard time believing he’s going to get away with running against Michigan when Ohio State couldn’t. If Deondre Francois tries to air it out, it’s turnover season & the Wolverines really start blowing it out. This might be the sexiest game outside of the playoffs, but Michigan kills it. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Citrus Bowl: Love the storylines here. For LSU this is a chance for Ed Orgeron to really put this program at 100% going forward. It’s also a chance for Lenoard Fournette to boost his draft status & for Derrius Guice to start a Heisman campaign in 2017. For Louisville it’s a chance to end the season on a high note & a chance for Lamar Jackson to prove what a great player he is by taking on and beating by far the best defense he’s seen all season. Can’t wait. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Taxslayer Bowl: Great bounce back season for Paul Johnson and the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech was 3-9 last year & has a shot at 9-4 this year with a win over Kentucky. It was also a solid year for the Wildcats who got to a bowl game for the first time under HC Mark Stoops and beat Louisville to finish the regular season. I think this is a big jump off game for the 2017 season as both teams return a lot of players & should be even better in 2017. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Peach Bowl: Chris Petersen is an exceptionally creative coach so the thing to watch here is how well the Huskies can play in the 1st quarter while Alabama could potentially be taken off guard. At some point in time talent is going to settle in and the Tide have a GIGANTIC advantage here, but if UW gets out to a 14 point lead, can they hold on for dear life? This is best case for Washington. Worst case is that they’ve never seen anything like Bama’s front-7 and lose by 30. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Fiesta Bowl: I’m not a fan of this game. I understand the reasoning behind putting Ohio St. in the playoffs but Penn St. beat them and won the Big 10 championship. I think the Nittany Lions got a raw deal which taints the playoff regardless. A lot of talk here about how this game is Deshaun Watson against JT Barrett, but I think Clemson’s defense is going to be tough & the Tigers have so many weapons on offense against a fairly young defense. Still should be a great game. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Outback Bowl: This is a great game for Iowa to end the season on a high note. The Hawkeyes have won 3 straight games which includes wins over Michigan and Nebraska. Their 8-4 record is a lot closer to 11-1 given their close losses than people imagine & it’s easy to forget that some thought Iowa had the schedule this year to set up another 12-0 run. Finishing 9-4 is great albeit somewhat disappointing. As for the Gators, they really need to avoid another late season collapse. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Cotton Bowl: ROW THE BOAT!!! The Western Michigan story is a fantastic one, but this is a situation for Wisconsin that is almost unwinnable. Lose and you lost to a MAC school. Win and all you did was beat a MAC school. It’s interesting to note that WMU is 2-0 against Big 10 schools this year having beat Illinois and Northwestern by a combined 25 points. The Badgers beat both by a combined 59 points. It would be so cool to see PJ Fleck pull of a 14-0 season! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Rose Bowl: Two teams couldn’t be any hotter coming into this one. Penn St. has won 9 straight games including wins over Ohio St. & Wisconsin in the Big 10 championship game. USC has won 8 straight games including wins over Colorado, Washington, Notre Dame & UCLA. I really think these teams are out to prove they should have been in the playoffs. USC beat both UW & Colorado. Penn St. beat Ohio State. This might be the best bowl outside of the national championship. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Sugar Bowl: Love this game. If the season started tomorrow and the Tigers were healthy, knowing what we know now, I think they’d go 11-1. War Eagle has a top-5 defense that is massively underrated in my opinion. Their running game is also exceptional so Auburn can put a lot of pressure on Oklahoma. I think OU is playing for respect. A win over Auburn legitimizes them as a team that maybe should have been in the playoffs. A loss here hurts the Big XII quite a bit. Computer Hope

2016 NCAA FOOTBALL WEEK 2 – BIG GAMES

Week 2 is notoriously bad for college football and 2016 is no exception. Picking out the top-10 games were a bit rough, but these are the ten games I thought were most interesting for this week. To be honest, this is the one Saturday where, barring any major upsets, if you missed I don’t think you’d even notice. With that said, I do think there are some intriguing rivalry games and of course Tennessee & Virginia Tech will will play in an historic game because of an attendance record at “The Battle of Bristol.” Just be warned, this week’s action won’t come close to the tremendous week 1 we had.

AWAY QUICK THOUGHTS HOME
Computer Hope The Holy War!! This is as great rivalry game as you get the sense these two teams really hate each other. It had taken a couple of years off although last season in the Las Vegas Bowl we got the game due to bowl matchups which Utah won 35-28. The last time we played in Salt Lake City, the Utes won 24-21. Utah is 10-3 over the last 13 meetings & have won 5 straight. These are two solid teams. Remember last year Utah was 10-3 while BYU was 9-4. I’m excited to see what BYU QB Taysom Hill & RB Jamaal Williams can do against the Utah defense. BYU had a solid win over Arizona to start the year so their confidence should be high although their schedule is NASTY! I think college football as a whole is better when BYU is more relevant. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Tennessee had massive issues last week with Appalachian St., so this week should be interesting with the Hokies at QB Jerod Evans coming to town. Evans had an amazing debut last week against Liberty passing for 221yds & 4TD while rushing for 46yds. The Hokies are underrated. They have 15 returning starters from a year ago & this is a team that probably should have beaten Ohio St. last year if Michael Brewer doesn’t get hurt. VT’s “best” case record last year was 11-2 & they avoid both Clemson & Florida State. The Vols of course need to get on track. Needing OT at home to beat App State is ridiculous so they need to come out and prove they are worthy of being in the national title discussion. This game is about the Vols. Computer Hope
Computer Hope An OUTSTANDING rivalry that we haven’t seen since 2000 which is WAY TOO LONG! A lot is going on in this one as I think James Franklin could be feeling tremendous heat if he flubs up early. The Lions weren’t overly dominant over Kent St. last week and they now have 3 straight games against Pittsburgh, Temple & Michigan. If Penn St. emerges 1-3 from their first 4 then I doubt Franklin is around considering he’d still have games against Ohio St., Iowa, Indiana & Michigan St. with a team short on confidence. That could turn into a 5-7 season at best. I think Pittsburgh is a big time sleeper team in the ACC. Pat Narduzzi has 16 starters returning although the schedule isn’t kind to them. Pitt has more than enough to get by Penn St. though. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Last season Washington St. opened up with a 24-17 loss to Portland St. and then went 5-1 in their next 6 and 8-2 in their next 10 climbing to #20 in the nation. After the opening home loss to Portland St., the Cougars went on the road to Rutgers and beat the Scarlet Knights 37-34. This season Wazzou once again goes on the road after a home opening loss to an FCS team, but this time it’s Boise State which is a completely different animal than Rutgers, but the parallels between the situations are striking. Like most Mike Leach teams, Wazzou airs it out with the best of them & that’s about all they do. What makes this interesting is that Boise has a real shot at 12-0 & Washington St. might be the toughest game they have on the schedule. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Baby steps. Last week SMU opened the season with a 34-21 win over North Texas. That seems inconsequential but it was the first season opening win the Mustangs have had since the 2000 season where SMU beat Kansas 31-17. I think the hiring of Chad Morris was a helluva move by the administration at SMU. Morris is a born & raised Texan & has made recruiting the state his priority almost the point of recruiting ONLY the state of Texas. It’s what he should do. Last year SMU was only 2-10 but that was a 1-game improvement from where they were in 2014 & Morris has 16 returning starters. I don’t think they have any shot at beating Baylor in Waco, but I think they’ll play extremely tough & if Baylor beats themselves, SMU wins. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Both teams are coming off uninspiring opening weekends. Arkansas needed everything they had to beat Louisiana Tech 21-20 while TCU had all it could handle from South Dakota St. before pulling away with a 59-41 win. Still, it’s extremely hard to imagine a Gary Patterson led defense giving up 41 points to an FCS squad! The last 5 years have seen TCU’s defense get worse & worse. Through 1 game, that trend doesn’t appear to be changing. QB Kenny Hill did a great job for the Frogs last week and TCU was great at running the football. It’ll be interesting though with Arkansas because the Hogs will play a ball-control type rushing offense which should slow TCU down. If Arkansas can keep TCU out of the endzone early, this one will be interesting. Computer Hope
Computer Hope The Tar Heels probably get a win over Georgia last week if they had run the ball a bit more. This would have served a couple of purposes. One, it keeps UNC’s defense off the field & allows them to rest. Two, it keeps Nick Chubb off the field running over your tired defense! On paper this isn’t much of a game. The Tar Heels are a legit national team while Illinois is trying to become average in the Big 10. On the other hand, the game is in Urbana-Champaign and you couldn’t help but feel the tangible excitement about the program last week in HC Lovie Smith’s debut! The Illini trashed Murray St. 52-3 & everyone was drinking the orange Kool-Aid! UNC is a different animal but Illinois could ride emotion at home to making this into a game. Computer Hope
Computer Hope The bottom line is that last week USC was embarrassed on national television in primetime by an Alabama squad that showed everyone just how far away the Trojans are from being a serious national title contender. The bottom line also says that USC has as much talent as anyone in the nation. Utah State isn’t a bad program, but this is also the type of team that USC would beat 59-3 in the Pete Carroll era. If the Trojans come back this week in the Coliseum and completely dominate Utah St., then I think we can consider USC a top-20 team again & possibly better hoping that the Alabama game was simply one of those games that everything went wrong. If USC struggles here, then I think the season won’t be what we expected from the Men of Troy. Computer Hope
Computer Hope The Battle for the Cyhawk Trophy! Like Colorado/Colorado State, the Iowa/Iowa State intra-state rivalry is one of my favorites. Matt Campbell did a great job at Toledo amassing a 35-15 & a couple of bowl wins. I was surprised that he took the Iowa St. job considering his star was on the rise. The Cyclones are in an almost unwinnable position in the Big 12. It’s impossible to recruit with Oklahoma or Texas, and Iowa is the state program & plays in the Big 10. The 2016 season didn’t start well as the Cyclones opened up with a 25-20 home loss to Northern Iowa. At best ISU can go 2-10/1-11 this season. That’s a tough road to hoe. In rivalry games you can throw out the records, but Iowa is playing extremely well so I think a blowout is coming. Computer Hope
Computer Hope This should be an interesting game for Notre Dame. Brian Kelly & DC Brian VanGorder are taking TREMENDOUS heat over last week’s defensive effort that yielded 50 points to Texas. Granted, the Longhorns might be a lot better on offense that I at first imagined, but the Irish were a potential national title contender & gave up 50 points in the opener. that’s inexcusable. Nevada has 10 returning starters on offense including their top-4 receivers, their QB & RB James Butler who ran for 1,342 yards last season & 10TD. Butler doesn’t have the same build as Texas RB D’Onta Foreman or QB Tyrone Swoopes who ND had enough problems stopping, but he’s effective. Like USC, Notre Dame needs a blowout in rather convincing fashion. Computer Hope

2015 NCAA BOWL GAMES PREVIEW

TEAM QUICK THOUGHTS TEAM
Computer Hope Las Vegas Bowl: The people in Vegas couldn’t have gotten a better bowl game than the HOLY WAR! After the 2013 season, this game was supposed to be on hiatus until 2016 due to Utah joining the Pac 12 & BYU going independent, but it’s awesome we get this rivalry back! Given how each team started, I think both are probably a bit disappointed to be here. I’d expect Utah to win. They are better & BYU is dealing with the loss of their HC, Bronco Mendenhall. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Camellia Bowl: This is a cool matchup between two extremely run heavy offenses. App St.’s Marcus Cox has had a tremendous year rushing for over 1200 yards while Jalin Moore has also chipped in over 600 as his backup! AJ Ouellette & Daz’Mond Patterson aren’t quite as dominant for the Bobcats, but Ohio is a run first squad behind that duo. Expect lots of running & I’d expect a Mountaineer win which would take Appalachian St. to 11-2! A great year! Computer Hope
Computer Hope New Orleans Bowl: Sun Belt champion Arkansas St. draws CUSA-West division runner up Louisiana Tech. The Red Wolves actually come into this bowl on an 8-game winning streak having gone perfect through conference play, but this is a bad draw. While both sport prolific offenses, Arkansas St.’s defense leaves much to be desired & LA Tech can hammer you in a myriad of ways. Tune in to watch former Florida QB Jeff Driskel light it up for the Bulldogs. Computer Hope
Computer Hope New Mexico Bowl: One of the more interesting teams this season, the Lobos of New Mexico have some convincing wins over the likes of Air Force, Boise St., & Utah State but a couple of close losses to the likes of Colorado St. & San Jose St. potentially kep the Lobos from a MWC championship. New Mexico is VERY run heavy which could cause some problems, but now that the questions surrounding Rich Rodriguez have halted, I think Arizona pulls it out. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Cure Bowl: Does anyone really care about this game at all? San Jose St. is 5-7 while Georgia St. is 6-6. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to have a postseason bowl featuring 2 teams that are a combined 11-13! A couple of interesting points though. This is Georgia St.’s first ever bowl game & San Jose St.’s 10th so this is history for GA State, but did you know SJSU is 6-3 in their previous bowls? I wouldn’t have thought that. Will anyone bother to show up? Computer Hope
Computer Hope Miami Beach Bowl: Solid matchup here. It took a while for the Bulls to get going, but South Florida turned it on and went 7-1 down the stretch & finished the season as arguably the 2nd best team in the AAC behind Houston. The Hilltoppers are 11-2 & coming in as CUSA champions. WKU has a helluva program & QB Brandon Doughty has been EXCEPTIONAL this season as has WR Taywan Taylor. USF’s defense has been stingy & watch Bulls RB Marlon Mack! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Idaho Potato Bowl: Interesting matchup between the MWC & the MAC. Akron is coming on a 4-game winning streak while Utah St. has struggled to end the season going 2-4 in their last 6. Neither of these teams does anything particularly well obviously as Akron is 7-5 & Utah St. is 6-6. It will be the last game that Utah St. QB Chuckie Keeton will play in. The 41-year old 17th-year senior will finally lace them up with 3 of his grandchildren in the stands. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Boca Raton Bowl: This is only the Boca Raton’s 2nd year as a bowl, but this bowl so far has been excellent. Last year in its inaugural season, the bowl featured MAC Champion N.Illinois going up against CUSA Champion Marshall! Both teams were 11-1 & Marshall prevailed 52-23. This year Temple (10-3) plays Toledo (9-2) which is an OUTSTANDING game between two teams some thought could have been in a Big Six bowl by year’s end. Home run pairing. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Poinsettia Bowl: Bad memories for the Broncos here! The only other time Boise St. has played in the Poinsettia Bowl was back in 2008 when they came in 12-0 to play an Andy Dalton led TCU squad. Boise St. would take a 13-0 lead over the 10-2 Horned Frogs but would lose 17-16! This one won’t be as exciting as both teams come in with 8 wins, but still cool when you consider that both of these teams are 2 of the most winningest teams over the past 5 seasons. Computer Hope
Computer Hope GoDaddy Bowl: GA Southern has arguably the most prolific RB in college football. Matt Breida has ran for 1540yds/16TD this year while averaging 8.2ypc! Even more amazing is backup RB LA Ramsby ran for 700+/12TD! The MAC Champions have quite a bit of offense as well. QB Matt Johnson threw for 4700yds/43TD while WR Roger Lewis (1476yds/15TD) & RB Travis Greene (1220yds/14TD) are as explosive as they come. Lots of points here. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Bahamas Bowl: Last year C.Michigan came back from a 49-14 deficit after 3 quarters to pull to within 1 but came up short 49-48 to W.Kentucky! Nothing fancy here as both teams come in at 7-5 with balanced offenses and suspect defenses. I think WMU HC PJ Fleck is an interesting case. Western Michigan went to great lengths to keep him in Kalamazoo & his star is definitely on the rise. His 1st year the Broncos were 1-11 & now he’s got them to B2B bowls. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Hawaii Bowl: Wow! Going to Hawaii is nice and all but the Mountain West champion deserves better than the AAC’s 6th best team! Cincinnati’s rush defense is terrible while SD State’s rushing attack is ridiculously lethal behind Donnel Pumphrey & Chase Price. Throw in a top-10 defense by the 10-3 Aztecs & you have the makings of a blowout. It took SD State a bit to get warmed up, but they come in on a 9-game winning streak & should improve to 11-3. Computer Hope
Computer Hope St. Petersburg Bowl: Bob Diaco has done a great job turning around the UConn program. Last year the Huskies were 2-10 in his first year & Diaco now has them bowl bound at 6-6 including a huge win over Houston which ended the Cougars perfect season. It’s not surprising that the Huskies like to pound the ball & play nasty defense as Diaco is a defense guy. Marshall is a good matchup for UConn as they’ll have trouble scoring & stopping the run. UConn wins. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Sun Bowl: Our first Big 5 conference matchup pits the ACC against the Pac 12. This looks like ACC #5 v. Pac 12 #5. This one could get ugly. Miami-FL is going through a coaching transition as it is with Mark Richt set to take over for Al Golden but the bigger issues is Wazzou QB Luke Falk being cleared to play. The two closest offenses to Wazzou that the Canes have faced are Clemson & UNC & Miami gave up 58 & 59 to those teams respectively. The Pirate wins! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Heart of Dallas Bowl: Southern Miss had a nice season but Washington had the best defense in the Pac 12 & I think towards the end of the season the Huskies really started figuring things out. UW was 3-2 in their last 5 games & all 3 wins were HUGE blowouts. If Chris Petersen has the Huskies focused then this bowl is going to get out of hand. Southern Miss won’t have an answer for dynamic freshman duo Myles Gaskin or Jake Browning. Tune in for those two! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Pinstripe Bowl: ACC #7 v. Big 10 #9. Neither team is amazing as IU comes in at 6-6 while Duke is 7-5, but to me this game is more about Indiana’s imposition of will via their offense. Indiana can argue they almost beat Michigan, Ohio St., Michigan St. & Iowa! Those are 4 AMAZING teams. Duke shouldn’t be difficult at all by comparison which puts pressure on the Hoosiers to win this game, but Duke is solid in their own right. A sneaky good football game. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Indepedence Bowl: Frank Beamer’s last stand! Both teams are 6-6 but Tulsa gives up almost 40 points a game so I think the Hokies should be able to send Frank Beamer out a winner. It has been interesting to watch the Hokies since Michael Brewer has come back as QB. He started the last 5 games of the season & Tech went 3-2 but those 2 losses were by a combined 5 points to Duke & UNC. If Brewer is healthy you almost wonder if Tech would have gone 11-1. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Foster Farms Bowl: In case you were wondering this used to be the Fight Hunger Bowl which used to be the Emerald Bowl which used to be the San Francisco Bowl. This is one of those bowl games that is better off dead than living. Nebraska doesn’t even have a winning record & these two teams met in 2013. I guess it’s a chance to watch Josh Rosen, but at the same time, UCLA is in a no win situation. They are playing a 5-7 team. A very unexciting bowl. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Military Bowl: This is the 8th installment of the Military Bowl & only twice before has one of the service academies been in the game & both times they lost! If the Notre Dame commonality means anything this should be a FANTASTIC bowl game. I think the Panthers have been underrated all season & this will also be Navy QB Keenan Reynolds’ last game. I’d love to see the Middies win & finish the season 11-2. What an amazing season for Navy. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Quick Lane Bowl: I think this is one of 3 games played in baseball stadiums. The Pinstripe Bowl is played in Yankee Stadium & the Alamo Bowl is played on Chase Field home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. This another bowl featuring a sub-.500 team in the Gophers who are 5-7 taking on Central Michigan at 7-5. Sort of a no win for the Big 10. If they win they should, but if they lose it’s embarrassing. The Gophers are a tough crew so I think they’ll pull this one out. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Armed Forces Bowl: This used to be the Ft. Worth Bowl! This an interesting game to watch as far as contrast in styles is concerned. Air Force is a run heavy team with their spread option attack & they should see some success as Cal’s defense is very porous. QB Jared Goff, on the other hand, should have no trouble moving Cal’s offense up & down the field. This might be one of those games where defenses don’t really matter & whoever has the ball last wins. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Russell Athletic Bowl: The first big game of the bowl season pits 9-3 Baylor up against 11-2 North Carolina. I’d be a lot more excited about this game if I knew that Seth Russell & Corey Coleman were suiting up for the Bears, but they aren’t. Even Jarrett Stidham is on the sidelines so we are only seeing a shadow of what Baylor really is. That said, Baylor still should move the ball but I think the Tar Heels prevail in this one & get to 12-2 & an incredible finish. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Arizona Bowl: The first non-championship bowl game to feature teams from the same conference since the 1979 Orange Bowl which featured Oklahoma & Nebraska. This is the worst bowl of them all this year. Two teams from the Mountain West? Even worse is that neither team is any good. Theoretically this game should be MW v. CUSA or MW v. Sun Belt, but neither conference could come up with a team so we get MW v. MW. What in the world went wrong? Computer Hope
Computer Hope Texas Bowl: How lucky is the Mad Hatter? Les Miles goes from essentially being fired to beating Texas A&M & then getting a bowl game against a team that Lenoard Fournette might actually rush for 300 yards against! Texas Tech throws the ball entirely too much for a defense like LSU! The Tigers are likely to come up with 2-3 interceptions to go along with Fournette’s dominance while spells blowout city for LSU. As always, Texas Tech really needs a defense. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Birmingham Bowl: Memphis let down at the end of the season. The Tigers started 8-0 but went 1-3 in their last 4 to finish 9-3 & 3rd in the AAC  West. For that they were rewarded with a bowl game against the SEC West last place team! Auburn is a big name of course, but it feels like Memphis deserved better than a 6-6 team if only to see how Paxton Lynch performs against at top shelf defense from one of the Big 5 conferences. Conversely, Auburn could win! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Belk Bowl: This is sort of an interesting game as both teams have decent records but you could certainly argue that both teams beat up on the dregs of their conference along with some non-conference cupcakes to get where they are. I love Mississippi St. & like where NC State is going, but both teams need to take that next step. The Wolfpack don’t have much to stop Dak Prescott who will be making his last start as a MS State QB. He’s had an amazing career! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Music City Bowl: Obviously the storyline here is Kevin Sumlin & his fate with Texas A&M. Kyle Allen & Kyler Murray are transferring. Last year Kenny Hill transferred meaning Sumlin has lost 3 ELITE QBs to transfer in the last 2 seasons. Sumlin needs the win here to take a little bit of the heat off, but I don’t see them getting it. Louisville is a solid football team & Bobby Petrino has time to prepare against a 3rd string QB. The SEC West is no joke my friends! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Holiday Bowl: I’ve read rumors that a lot of big money donors at USC did not want Clay Helton to be the next HC & that a lot of boosters preferred USC to make a splash & go hard after a candidate like Nick Saban! That seems crazy but it also points to the heat being on Helton to produce quick or face a fast exit. A win over Wisconsin would definitely buy some time but the Badgers could use this game to prove they are among the nation’s elite football teams. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Peach Bowl: A brutal draw for Florida State. Some big 5 conference team was going to draw Houston & it’s a no-win situation. Beat Houston & who cares? It’s Houston. Lose to Houston & catch flack for losing to a non-Big 5 conference opponent. Houston is a good squad but they haven’t seen ANYTHING close to Dalvin Cook! No team has average more than 4ypc on Houston’s D this year but Cook averages 7.9ypc & ran for 7+ypc on a nasty Florida D-line. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Orange Bowl: ACC champ versus Big XII champ! Clemson comes in at 13-0 while the Sooners have won 7 straight games. I have the sneaking suspicion that Oklahoma is going to roll Clemson pretty hard in this game. The Sooners have played the like the best team in football for the past 7 weeks & I don’t see that offense being stopped. The scary part is how good the Sooners defense has been as well. I think OU wins big & the ACC is exposed as very inferior. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Cotton Bowl: SEC champ versus Big 10 champ. It’s worth noting that Tide QB Jake Coker is averaging 191 yards per game. That might not mean much, but this game is going to come down to how well Michigan St. can defend Derrick Henry in the Alabama running game. If they can limit Henry then it forces Coker to try & win the game & that is something he hasn’t had to do. I think Alabama wins, but if the Spartans defense of the last 4 weeks shows up…… Computer Hope
Computer Hope Outback Bowl: Touch matchup for Northwestern & this is a bowl I’m really looking forward to. At 10-2, you’d think the Wildcats would have an advantage over the 8-4 Vols, but I think by year’s end Tennessee was playing like the SEC’s second best squad so I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see UT’s superior talent & athleticism overwhelm Northwestern. Then again, Northwestern has been ugly all season & figures out ways to still get wins. Should be a great game. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Citrus Bowl: The Gators got some horrible news this past week when it learned of Will Grier’s intent to transfer! That’s awful news but somehow I don’t think it’ll mess up what Jim McElwain is going to do down in Gainesville. Florida didn’t draw well anyway & I think the Gators are in for a curb stomping at the hands of Jim Harbaugh & the Wolverines who definitely want to get that 10th victory. Although they’ll lose, Florida ends with an impressive 10 wins. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Fiesta Bowl: A playoff game that isn’t, Ohio St. at 11-1 & Notre Dame at 10-2 are likely the first two teams taken if the playoffs were to expand from 4 to 8. Ohio St. is the best team in the nation if it plays like it did against Michigan & I don’t see the Irish beating them. Then again, the Buckeyes sometimes don’t show up. They will against the Irish so I think ND needs to keep it close & see what happens. The worst case scenario for ND is shades of 2012 v. Alabama. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Rose Bowl: Like ND/Ohio St., it’s hard not to see this game as an extension of the playoffs as these 2 would have certainly been the other 2 if the field had expanded to 8. I’m in the tank for Iowa so I’m rooting hard for the Hawkeyes to win & finish 13-1! Iowa will also have their eyes on Michigan State. If the Spartans end up winning the national championship then Iowa has a legit claim to be the #2 team in the nation & probably should be so. Go Hawks! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Sugar Bowl: Unfortunately we won’t get to see DT/DE Robert Nkemdiche. The 6’4/295lbs potential #1 overall draft pick is suspended. I love this game in that it’s a good test of overall conference strength. OK State is probably the 4th best team in the Big XII while Ole Miss is likely the 2nd/3rd best in the SEC. Should be a layup for the Rebels & that is what I’d expect. The closest defense OK State has seen to Ole Miss is Oklahoma’s and that was ugly! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Taxslayer Bowl: This is an exciting matchup when you look at the jerseys only as both programs are historically great, but right now neither is very good. These teams are a combined 0-7 against AP Top-25 teams which is an amazing stat considering. The Dawgs are probably the 7th-8th best team in the SEC while Penn St. is probably the 7th best team in the Big 10. It’s a good test to determine the overall depth of the conferences, but it won’t live up to the names. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Liberty Bowl: Brutal draw for Kansas St. as they don’t defend the run all that well & Arkansas is an ELITE rushing offense. Arkansas really turned their play on at the end of the season & if they didn’t struggle early on they probably would have been the 2nd place team in the West. I think Bret Bielema also wants to build which means the 7-5 Razorbacks need a win to get to 8-5 which is a game better than last year’s 7-6 team. K-State isn’t very good. Hogs roll. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Alamo Bowl: OUTSTANDING BOWL MATCH-UP! There were more than a few people before the season began that entertained thoughts that this game would be for the national championship. The good news is that TCU QB Trevone Boykin will play & maybe even WR Josh Doctson could get in on the action. The bad news is Oregon right now is a top-5 team & TCU’s defense is still atrocious. Both teams score but Oregon might score 60! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Cactus Bowl: This is an important game for the Big XII. Arizona St. might be the 9th best team in the Pac 12 this year & I think the Big XII has a shot to lose quite a few bowl games. A win by the Mountaineers could at least add some credence to the depth of the conference. A loss here though could mean a clean sweep of the Big XII outside of Oklahoma, but given the state of college football right now, it seems like the ACC & Big XII are severely lacking. Computer Hope

2015 NCAA WEEK 7 – BIG GAMES

ROAD QUICK THOUGHTS HOME
Computer Hope This game has the most potential to upend the rankings especially if Texas A&M comes away with a win. If the Aggies can win this game then they have a legitimate shot at being #1 when the dust settles as Utah plays Arizona St. & Florida plays LSU. Keep an eye on the trenches in this one. Texas A&M’s D-Line is one of the most aggressive in the country with Myles Garrett & Daeshon Hall, but the Aggies are suspect against the run. Expect big doses of Derrick Henry to try & neutralize the pass rush & avoid turnovers. Computer Hope
Computer Hope There isn’t a team in college football more on fire than Michigan is at the moment. The weird part about Michigan is that there was talent on the roster so it’s not completely surprising that Jim Harbaugh could come in and win some games. Statistically speaking Michigan is better in all phases of the game & they are playing at home. There is on thing to look for & it’s turnover margin. Michigan is -1 on the year while Michigan St. is +8. I’d expect a lot of ground & pound but Connor Cook could put Sparty on his back. Michigan St. needs it! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Losing Will Grier is brutal for the Gators. Florida finally found a leader in their QB for the first time since Tebowmania left Gainesville & now he’s gone. That means Treon Harris has to step up in a big way for Florida to be taken seriously as a playoff threat. A win in Baton Rouge could solidify Florida’s place in the national landscape but while their rush defense has been great, they haven’t faced a rushing offense featuring Leonard Fournette & Derrius Guice. Oddly enough both teams need this for validation. Computer Hope
Computer Hope This is obviously a huge rivalry game, but USC couldn’t be facing the Irish at a more difficult time. I think it’ll be interesting to see who the Trojans respond with their backs against the wall on the road against a hated rival. Teams can do special things when they have that “us against the world” mentality so Notre Dame has to be careful as another loss could completely ruin what chance they may still have for a spot in the 4-team playoff. There is an awful lot of offensive talent on USC’s side so the Irish better be ready. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Iowa can wrap up the Big 10 West with a win in Evanston this weekend, but even a loss doesn’t prevent them losing the division as long as they can win the rest of their games & Northwestern slips up one more time (how about in Madison?). I don’t want to see the Hawkeyes back into this one though. This might be the best Iowa team we’ve seen in some time. The defense is very good & RB Jordan Canzeri could get some Heisman buzz should Iowa keep rolling. I think it would be nice for the Big 10 West to be clean. Iowa can do that. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Arizona St. could find themselves deserving of a very high ranking should they beat Utah in Salt Lake City, something Michigan & California couldn’t manage. Combine this win with a Texas A&M loss & you could make an argument that the Sun Devils are a top-5 team & the best team in the Pac 12. The USC loss would seem distant. The big question then becomes whether an 11-2 Arizona St. team could make the playoffs? A Utah win only reinforces what I already know. The Utes are the best team in college football at the moment. Computer Hope
Computer Hope It seems like it has been forever since UCLA last played, but despite their loss to Arizona St., the Bruins aren’t in that bad of a position. A win in Pao Alto cures a lot of ills, but it won’t be an easy task as Stanford finds themselves in almost the same position. I think UCLA is playing with house money at this point. Losing Myles Jack & Eddie Vanderdoes is brutal & I’m not sure how UCLA survives it. They also have a frosh QB. Should they expect to make the playoffs? Imagine if Hundley returned & the injuries didn’t happen? Computer Hope
Computer Hope Memphis can play a little bit. Last year the Tigers were 10-3 & 2 of those 3 losses were close so they could argue they should have been 12-1! Paxton Lynch has made big strides at QB & the Memphis receivers have done a great job at making big plays. Ole Miss’s offense should be able to carve the defense up pretty well but Memphis should be able to score & don’t forget about the Florida game. Lynch could have a game like Will Grier. If Ole Miss gets turnover happy then Memphis could win & the SEC West gets shaken a bit. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Since Florida St. has started conference play they’ve been somewhat living on the edge. The Seminoles haven’t looked particularly impressive beating Boston College, Wake Forest or Miami-FL over their last 3 games. Now comes Louisville who is coming off a bye & are the winners of 2 straight games. Lamar Jackson has a lot of work to do on his passing game, but he’s a big play threat with his feet & Louisville is THIS CLOSE to being 5-0. It’s a home game for FSU which helps but they are on upset alert. Computer Hope
Computer Hope This is a solid game for Georgia to get back on their feet after losing back-to-back games to Alabama & Tennessee. Missouri isn’t awful but the game is in Athens & the Tigers will still be without their starting QB Maty Mauk. Georgia isn’t without losses either as star RB Nick Chubb is out with an ACL injury, but it’s not like Georgia won’t be able to run the ball with guys like Sony Michel & Keith Marshall. Georgia isn’t completely out of it considering the Will Grier situation, but they need to win out. Computer Hope
Computer Hope I still think Boston College is one of the most intriguing teams in college football & I can’t think of a non-contending team I’d want to play less than the Eagles. BC is coming off back-to-back heart breaking losses to Wake Forest & Duke & at some point a few breaks will go their way. Clemson is coming off 3 emotional wins over Louisville, Notre Dame & Georgia Tech. This is sort of a “perfect storm” scenario so Clemson has to watch. If BC had any type of QB confidence, an upset might not be much of an upset. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Since losing at BYU in Week 2, Boise St. has won 4 straight by the combined score of 203-24! If not for the BYU loss, Boise would be looking at a 13-0 season that might not be difficult to obtain. Their defense is the very definition of ball-hawking. Boise ranks #2 in TO margin at +10 & their 13 interceptions lead the nation. Offensively, the Broncos grind it out behind Jeremy McNichols who is on pace for 1,000yds/24TD! Utah St. is a good football team. If they can avoid mistakes, they’ll make of game of it. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Oklahoma is coming off a stunning 24-17 loss to Texas & now travel to Manhattan to take on an Kansas St. team that always plays well at home & will be a very tough out for the Sooners. Oklahoma still has a legit shot at the playoffs if they win out, but that is going to be tougher than it looks. Kansas St. probably should have beaten Oklahoma St. & took TCU to the brink last week before losing 52-45. Kansas St. wants to grind out games so it’ll be interesting to see how Oklahoma defends & what they’ll do offensively. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Can you imagine having West Virginia’s schedule? Their week 5 through week 11 games are: @Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., @Baylor, bye, @TCU, Texas Tech & Texas. West Virginia could be a top-25 team & yet be 3-6 after 9 games. I really like West Virginia & Dana Holgorsen but this is a TALL TEST this week against the Bears. Games like this remind me of the old Big East and how much better it would be if we had that conference. Now teams like WVU, Cincinnati & Pittsburgh seem at a disadvantage. Computer Hope
Computer Hope This might be one of the best games of the week because of the implications. Before last season when GT went 11-3, won the Coastal & almost upset FSU in the ACC Championship game, the rumors of Paul Johnson’s demise were starting to heat up. After losing 4 straight this year, those rumors are starting to surface yet again. I can’t believe how bad GT has been this season. As for Pitt, a win is amazing. Consider that the only loss on Pittsburgh’s schedule came on the road at Iowa by 3 points. Computer Hope
Computer Hope After losing back-to-back games against UCLA & Michigan, BYU has bounced back with a couple of solid wins over Connecticut & East Carolina. Cincinnati is an interesting opponent. The Bearcats are 3-2 & coming off a bye & before that they beat Miami-FL. Cincinnati can score although their defense is rough so I’d expect BYU to win the game. This is likely BYU’s toughest test remaining on the schedule. A win here could propel BYU to 10-2 & a bowl win gives them 11, the most they’ve had since 2009. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Nebraska hasn’t been nationally relevant for close to 15 years. This game will be a pretty cool microcosm for a lot of details. The first is Nebraska moving to the Big 10 was a disaster. In the Big XII North they virtually had a cakewalk to the Big XII title gave every year. The second is that with a Gophers win you can say Nebraska is now behind Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota & Northwestern in the Big 10 West! The third is what coaching does. Minnesota got it right with Jerry Kill. NU got it wrong with Pelini & Callahan. Computer Hope
Computer Hope With a loss, Oregon can drop to 1-3 in the Pac 12 & 3-4 overall! It sounds wild but Washington still has a legit shot at winning the Pac 12 North. Their only loss is to California but the Bears lost last week to Utah so if Cal loses another, Washington would be ahead. UW’s schedule is nasty, but they could argue they should be 5-0 & Chris Petersen has found a special QB in Jake Browning. I love the juxtaposition of the two programs. Washington seems to be on the rise while Oregon is falling rather quickly. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Miami-FL still controls their own destiny. The Hurricanes season got off to a good start winning 3 straight including a big win over Nebraska, but Miami has lost their last 2 to Cincinnati & Florida State. The FSU loss isn’t huge & Miami can get back on track with a win over the Hokies. It’ll be interesting to see how Al Golden pulls it together (if he can) because I’m not sure he’s long for the job. It’s time to make a change in Coral Gables, but the real trick will finding the right fit. It hasn’t been easy for “THE U”! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Auburn is still Auburn but what makes this game interesting is what happens with a Kentucky win. The Wildcats are 4-1 with a couple of surprise wins over Missouri & South Carolina. With the SEC East sort of up in the air, UK has a decent shot if they can defend Lexington! If UK can defend their home turf, then a 9-3/10-2 season could be a real possibility & would 6-2 be good enough to win the SEC East? UK could wind up 11-3!!! A win over Auburn puts them closer & gives UK even more confidence. Computer Hope
Computer Hope My MAC special! Western Michigan isn’t a good football team, but the Broncos are coming off a 41-39 upset of Central Michigan. There isn’t much WMU does exceptionally well but they can throw behind QB Zach Terrell at times. Ohio is the interesting team here. The Bobcats are 5-1 with their only loss coming at Minnesota in a 27-24 loss to the Gophers. Ohio’s pass defense is great so we might end up with a blowout here. Ohio is a player in the MAC & could wind up with 9-10 wins. Big improvement from last year. Computer Hope

NCAA POWER-25 WEEK 4 2015

RANK TEAM COMMENTS
#1 Computer Hope You knew there would be hangover after winning in Tuscaloosa, but I thought Ole Miss would handle Vandy at home a little better than 27-16! How do you hang 43 on Alabama but 27 on Vanderbilt? That said, the win over Alabama is still the most impressive in the nation which gives Ole Miss the #1 spot. The offense is playing exceedingly well with the Chad Kelly, Jaylen Walton & Laquon Treadwell trio being outstanding. The only knock I have on Ole Miss is the defense. I wish it generated a bit more pressure, but hard to argue with a 4-0 start.
#2 Computer Hope That wasn’t just a win. That was a massacre! To put Utah’s 62-20 win over Oregon in Autzen Stadium into context, the last time the Ducks were beaten that badly at home was back in 1977 when Washington came into Eugene & blasted Oregon 54-0! Utah QB Travis Wilson was outstanding throwing for 4TD and running for 100 yards! The Utah defense did a great job of keeping Oregon off the field, forcing 3 turnovers & recording 5 sacks. Oregon might not be a top-10 team this year but winning in Eugene by 42 points is almost unheard of! Amazing!
#3 Computer Hope Northwestern is quite the conundrum. They played down to their competition last weekend beating Ball St. 24-19, but they also killed themselves with penalties & turnovers. That is something they won’t get away with playing Iowa & Wisconsin. What’s interesting about Northwestern though is the wins over Duke & Stanford keep looking better & better. This weekend Duke took care of Georgia Tech & Stanford has won back-to-back road conference games over USC & Oregon St.! Ranking #3 is high but the resume certainly stands out.
#4 Computer Hope LSU left the Deep South to head up to Yankeetown & took care of business beating Syracuse 34-24 behind Lenoard Fournette’s 244 rushing yards! You might be wondering just how scary Fournette is! He’s rushed for 631yds in 3 games & against defenses that aren’t exactly easy. In his next 4 games, Fournette gets Eastern Michigan, Western Kentucky & South Carolina! There is a real possibility that Fournette is pushing 1600 rushing yards after only 7 games! It’s a tremendous recipe for success to be sure. How does Les Miles keep winning games!??
#5 Computer Hope The Tide rebounded from the Ole Miss loss with a 34-0 beating of UL-Monroe which is more of a tune up game for Alabama before they play Georgia in Athens. I think it’s interesting that so many people are talking about Alabama as a “fading” dynasty! The team won the SEC last year for crying out loud & were 7pts away from beating Ohio St., who won the national championship? How is that fading? I think the Tide are suffering after the departure of AJ McCarron. Incredible QBs like that don’t come around often. Even when you’re Alabama.
#6 Computer Hope After looking the part of a true freshman the past couple of weeks, UCLA QB Josh Rosen played well in Tuscon against the Wildcats in leading UCLA to a 56-30 win! I think we need to be prepared for the fact that Arizona & Arizona St. might not be so hot, but a 26pt road conference victory is nothing to sneeze at. The 30pts allowed is troubling although UCLA is now without both LB Myles Jack & DT Eddie Vanderdoes. Those were 2 potential All-Americans in the front-7! That’s a huge loss, and at some point you wonder if the injuries haunt them.
#7 Computer Hope TCU is hard to pin down. When you look at them you have to wonder why they are ranked #4 in the AP. They have 2 very close losses to Minnesota & Texas Tech. Neither of those teams were expected to do much this season & the only convincing wins TCU has on the resume came against SMU & Stephen F. Austin! I watched all of TCU/Texas Tech & came away with a couple of thoughts: 1)WR Josh Doctson is INCREDIBLE!!!!! and 2)I think TCU can score on anyone & that Texas Tech is a lot better than people give them credit for. Great win for TCU.
#8 Computer Hope Too high? I don’t think so. Texas Tech SHOULD have beaten TCU & unfortunately sometimes the magic happens for specific teams & TCU tapped into that magic against Texas Tech & stole a victory. The Red Raiders have a shot at revenge against Baylor this week which would make a lot of people believers if Tech left Arlington with a win. All I know is that Patrick Mahomes is going to be a household name at QB & DeAndre Washington is a legit rushing threat. I love Kliff Kingsbury as a coach! This is fast becoming my favorite team for 2015.
#9 Computer Hope The Oregon win doesn’t look nearly as good now as it did when Michigan St. beat the Ducks by 3 in East Lansing. Given what Utah did in Eugene, you can make an argument that Michigan St. isn’t even close to Utah! I think the Spartans problem more than anything is that they aren’t putting teams away. They beat W.Michigan by 13. They beat Air Force by 14. They just beat C.Michigan 30-10. The Spartans rank 77th in total defense. Last year they ranked 8th. Losing Pat Narduzzi to Pittsburgh might be having a huge impact on Michigan St.
#10 Computer Hope Stanford continued their offensive resurgence with a 42-24 win over Oregon St. in Corvallis. The Beavers aren’t great by any standard, but they are well coached with Gary Andersen & this was Stanford’s 3rd straight win & their 2nd of back-to-back conference games! Against Northwestern, Stanford QB Kevin Hogan was 20/35 (57%) for 155yds & 1INT. In his last 3 games, Hogan is 44/66 (67%) for 783yds with 7TD to 1INT. The Cardinal offense has averaged almost 40PPG over their last 3 games. I can’t hold the Northwestern loss against them.
#11 Computer Hope The Irish let UMass stick around a bit, leading the Minutemen 21-20 late in the 2nd quarter. From that point forward, Notre Dame would scored 41 unanswered points before giving up a garbage time TD to win 62-27. Five different Notre Dame players rushed for TDs. CJ Prosise & Josh Adams both ran for over 100 yards & even true frosh QB Brandon Wimbush got some run time! The Irish have looked really good so far this season but now the real test comes as Notre Dame travels to Clemson. A win there makes the Irish a playoff favorite.
#12 Computer Hope The Trojans went into Tempe to try & regroup from their home loss to Stanford & proceeded to open up a can of whoop ass on Arizona State! USC was up 35-0 at halftime and to be honest, this was somewhat of a sloppy game for USC. They committed 10 penalties & turned the ball over twice. Cody Kessler did throw 5TD passes but he wasn’t laser sharp like we’ve seen him in the past. USC also had a few problem on defense as the Sun Devils racked up 400+ total yards. This is an excellent football team with a couple of kinks to work out.
#13 Computer Hope Texas A&M survived a trip to Fayetteville with a 28-21 victor in OT. Texas A&M needed a late TD and 2-pt conversion just to get to OT, but their season was preserved. Arkansas played the type of game they like to which is controlled tempo with plenty of running the ball down your throat. A&M didn’t fare so well as Arkansas had the ball twice as long as the Hogs, but Arkansas’s sloppy play (11 penalties/2 turnovers) did them in. This is a better win than it looks. Arkansas isn’t a 1-3 team & sometimes you need to survive games like this. A&M did that.
#14 Computer Hope Oklahoma was on a bye last week and they should have made good use of the time as they’ll welcome in West Virginia this week. The Mountaineers have done somewhat of an about face this year under Dana Holgorsen. An offensive guru, Holgorsen is actually leading the nation’s #1 ranked scoring defense! West Virginia is pretty interesting. They run that 3-3-5 defense (30 stack) to perfection & have the personnel to be dominant. WVU lead the nation in turnover margin & interceptions. If Baker Mayfield has a bad game then it could get ugly for OU!
#15 Computer Hope The Seminoles were on a bye last week so they keep their 3-0 record intact. Oddly enough there has been quite a bit of chatter about Florida St. despite them having not played. The talk concerns the likelihood of the ACC getting a playoff team given their lack of any viable options given strength of schedule. FSU’s toughest remaining game is a road game against Clemson, but if Clemson loses to Notre Dame this week, what else does the ACC really have? If ND beats Clemson & Clemson beats Florida State, how can a 12-1 ACC team reach the playoffs?
#16 Computer Hope Let’s face it. Ohio State simply hasn’t been impressive. I know they are #1 because they are the defending national champions but their “good” win has come against Virginia Tech who just got hammered by East Carolina. If you take out the 38-0 win over Hawaii, Ohio St. has beaten VA Tech, N.Illinois & W.Michigan by the combined score of 100-49. If Michael Brewer doesn’t get hurt then who knows what happens in Blacksburg & the Buckeyes should feel fortunate to have beaten N.Illinois. Does the #1 team feel fortunate to beat a MAC school?
#17 Computer Hope The 7pt loss at Utah now looks amazing & you could even make an argument that Michigan is a top-5 team if you believe Utah is in the top-2! BYU didn’t all of a sudden start sucking. Michigan put a beating on them 31-0 and now you have to wonder just how good the Wolverine defense really is? In their last 3 games the defense has give up 14 points in 3 straight wins. The competition hasn’t been super tough, but what Michigan has done under Jim Harbaugh has been nothing short of amazing. Could Michigan be a potential playoff team?
#18 Computer Hope The East Carolina win looks a lot better now that the Pirates beat Virginia Tech. I also think back-to-back wins over Tennessee & Kentucky make Florida the prohibitive favorite to be the #2 team in the SEC West behind Georgia. Florida isn’t blowing anyone away offensively but defensively they are showing out! The Gators rank 9th in the nation in tackles for loss & 6th in sacks. DT Jonathan Bullard is playing like a 1st team All-American while LB Jarrad Davis & DE Alex McCalister are also playing great. Defense can win you a lot of football games.
#19 Computer Hope Nobody has the DAWGS as low as I have them, but I’m trying to base these rankings on merit and right now Georgia is 4-0 with wins over UL-Monroe, Vanderbilt, South Carolina & Southern. I apologize for being underwhelmed! Georgia has had the tendency to throw up on themselves in the past. This year they should beat Alabama in Athens & nobody else on the schedule should beat them. For the most part Georgia should end the season at 13-0 as SEC Champions & favorites to win the National Championship. We’ll see how that pans out.
#20 Computer Hope Auburn isn’t nearly the team I’d thought they’d be coming into the season, but Mississippi St. went on the road and beat War Eagle 17-9 to improve to 3-1. The Bulldogs probably should have beaten LSU in Starkville when they had the chance. If you believe in LSU then you can hardly penalize MSU for losing to them by 2 points! By that logic having them at #19 is entirely too low. Dak Prescott has been perfect. They are running the ball well. The defense is there. A win in College Station this week establishes the Bulldogs as a top-10 team.
#21 Computer Hope You can hardly hammer Oregon for losing at Michigan St. & against Utah at home. If you believe those 2 squads are top-10 worthy, then you can make an argument that Oregon should at least be top-15 material. One thing that is for certain after watching the Tennessee Titans play this year is that Marcus Mariota was INCREDIBLY SPECIAL and even a school like Oregon with all their offense can’t suffer a loss like that and go unscathed. Oregon’s 2-2 start is a testament to just how good Mariota was and just how much Oregon misses him at QB.
#22 Computer Hope The Hawkeyes flexed a little bit this past weekend, beating North Texas 62-16! Iowa isn’t necessarily known for scoring points in bunches so the 62 was a surprise figure. The last time Iowa scored at least 60 points was 2002 when they beat Northwestern 62-10. That season Iowa would finish the year 11-2 & ranked #8 in the nation. What has really intrigued me about Iowa this year is that QB CJ Beathard is for real. Iowa can run the ball behind Jordan Canzeri & the defense is EXTREMELY GOOD! A win in Madison this weekend changes everything.
#23 Computer Hope Sort of like Oregon, it’s hard to be too hard on Tennessee when they have losses to Florida & Oklahoma on the season. What makes it even worse is those are two games that the Vols completely gave away. Instead of 2-2, Tennessee should be 4-0 getting ready to potentially be 5-0 when they host Georgia on October 10th! Tennessee outscored Florida & Oklahoma by a combined score of 34-10 in the first half! They’ve been outscored in the 2nd half by both teams 49-17! Tennessee needs to figure out a way to avoid halftime in big games.
#24 Computer Hope The Alabama loss is far enough removed for Wisconsin to start making headway back into the top-25. Since that opening week loss to the Tide, Wisconsin has won 3 straight, outscoring their opponents 114-3! It’s insanely impressive although those 3 opponents were Miami-OH, Hawaii & Troy so we can’t get too giddy. Wisconsin welcomes Iowa to Camp Randall this weekend in a game that should push the winner to the front of the Big 10 West to challenge Northwestern. Keep an eye on LB Joe Schobert. He’s been the best LB in American thus far.
#25 Computer Hope Clemson is coming off a bye which should help in their showdown with Notre Dame this Saturday. The 20-17 win over Louisville left a bad taste in my mouth considering just how pitiful the Cardinals have been this season. Clemson’s other wins have come against Wofford & Appalachian State. I think a couple of matchups are going to be interesting here. The first his how well QB Deshaun Watson plays against a great defense. The 2nd is DE Shaq Lawson going up against Irish LT Ronnie Staley. If Clemson wins those battles, they probably win.

DROPPING OUT

BYU COUGARS (previously #11): The magic had to run out at some point. I still think BYU makes a great argument for being in the top-25 as their losses have come against UCLA & Michigan. There isn’t a loss remaining on the schedule in my opinion & with a bowl win, the Cougars could get to 11-2 & be a borderline top-10 team depending on how UCLA & Michigan finish.

BAYLOR BEARS (previously #14): Baylor drops for me because this is a joke of a schedule. We are 4 weeks in and Baylor has already had a bye week & their 3 wins have come against SMU, Lamar & Rice. They’ve not even left the state of Texas! This week they play Texas Tech in Arlington. FINALLY an opponent. If Baylor walks all over the Red Raiders in this one then they’ll be ranked higher than both TCU & Texas Tech. We’ll see.

GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS (previously #20): Losing to Notre Dame by 8 in South Bend is completely respectable given how the Irish are playing. Going to Durham & getting beat by 14 at the hands of the Blue Devils? Duke is a lot better these last couple of years, but this Georgia Tech team is horribly disappointing to date.

CALIFORNIA BEARS (previously #24): Really no reason to drop California but right now we have enough to sort of assign some credit being a third of the way in. Cal is doing a great job getting to 4-0 but they barely escaped Texas & Washington with wins. QB Jared Goff is playing his way into the #1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft so there is a lot of buzz around the Bears, but we’ll know a lot more in 2 weeks when Cal has a 4-game span of: @Utah, @UCLA, v. USC and @Oregon. Cal could be 5-4 after 9 games & still be a top-25 team!

2015 NCAA WEEK 4 – BIG GAMES

ROAD QUICK THOUGHTS HOME
Computer Hope Pac 12 play opens for both of these schools in the best game of the week in my opinion. Utah has played great so far this year but a win over Oregon would garner national attention which is something Utah needs. Oregon definitely has issues on defense but Utah doesn’t necessarily have a high powered offense that can exploit Oregon’s weaknesses. Then again, Utah could ball control the Ducks. This won’t be an easy game for either team I suspect, but whoever dictates style will likely come out as the winner. Computer Hope
Computer Hope The Pac 12 South is far from decided but with Arizona St. & USC already suffering losses, Arizona & UCLA are the last teams standing (I didn’t forget about you Utah!). I can’t wait to see this game because Josh Rosen finally goes into enemy territory in the Pac 12. Arizona’s pass defense has been effective in creating turnovers which could come back to haunt the true freshman who is looking the part in UCLA’s last couple of games. Anu Solomon & Nick Wilson are having fantastic years & UCLA should be on upset alert. Computer Hope
Computer Hope I’m a huge fan of Kliff Kingsbury because I think he gets it. He’s bringing some serious swag to Texas Tech & while the Red Raiders were down a little bit last year, they are picking it back up this season starting with their demolishing of Arkansas & then Kingsbury talking smack to Arkansas HC Bret Bielema. At the beginning of the year I would have thought TCU would roll in this one but Tech QB Patrick Mahomes is playing well & the TCU defense hasn’t played up to their usual standards. This one is gonna be great! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Early season games can be hard on teams. USC took a loss from Stanford last week & Arizona St. was handed a season opening loss at the hands of Texas A&M. It looks like the season has went off the rails but in reality that’s hardly the case. In USC’s case the Stanford loss didn’t drop them out of the top-20 & for the most part they are still viable. Arizona St. essentially dropped off the map despite winning their next 2 games. These are both solid football teams but remember that a loss by USC means 2 in conference. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Tennessee should win this game. They are clearly the better team & if not for a let down agaisnt Oklahoma, the Vols would be a top-10 team at 3-0 heading into Gainesville against a Florida team that looked a little iffy against both East Carolina & Kentucky. The Vols have to have revenge on their minds as Florida upset UT 10-9 in Knoxville last season & Tennessee has quite a bit riding on this game. Then again, I’m not betting against Jim McElwain having the Gators ready in a pivotal SEC East game. Computer Hope
Computer Hope I love the scenarios with this game. If BYU wins they improve to 3-1 & their only really tough game remaining is a neutral site game against Missouri. If they run the table, then BYU goes 11-1 & makes a STRONG case for the playoffs IF UCLA can run the table. If Michigan wins & Utah beats Oregon, then the Wolverines look pretty darn amazing as they’re only loss will have come on the road to Utah by 7 points. You can’t really lose with either outcome, but it would be cool to see BYU push the playoff envelope! Computer Hope
Computer Hope Missouri is 3-0 but it’s a suspect 3-0. They barely held on to beat UConn last week 9-6 & the week before they got a close win over Arkansas St. 27-20. QB Maty Mauk hasn’t been good this year & Mizzou doesn’t really have any weapons around him right now. This is another opportunity for Kentucky to climb the ladder in the SEC East. The loss to Florida might hurt but I think UK still has a legit shot at being 3rd in the division with a win here. Then again, Gary Pinkel is an OUTSTANDING football coach. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Somewhat like Michigan/BYU, the scenarios here are pretty amazing but with the added bonus that both of these teams play in the ACC Coastal division. Georgia Tech’s only loss has  come on the road to Notre Dame. That’s hardly laughable. Duke’s only loss came at home at the hands of Northwestern, the team that beat Stanford who just beat USC. I think the Coastal has opened up a bit with Michael Brewer going down for Virginia Tech. I think it’ll be very interesting to see how Georgia Tech bounces back. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Every football coach in Texas is lining up to take their shots at Arkansas & HC Bret Bielema after what Bielema said about Texas HS football coaches. The Aggies are no different. After taking a beating & catching flack from Texas Tech & Kliff Kingsbury, the Razorbacks now have to welcome in the Aggies who should be A LOT tougher to handle. After the loss to Toledo, Bielema seemed relieved it wasn’t a conference game. Neither was the loss to Texas Tech, but a loss here definitely counts ni conference! Computer Hope
Computer Hope After their 16-13 road loss to Boise St., Washington has quietly put together a couple of solid wins over Sacramento St. & Utah State. Freshman Jake Browning has stepped up quite a bit & has Chris Petersen’s squad looking better. While they aren’t Oregon or Stanford, I still think this is a huge opporunity for California! The Bears are on the rise & a solid road win over Washington would help out the Bears. QB Jared Goff keeps making a Heisman push & this will be a solid game to add to his resume. I’m loving Cal. Computer Hope
Computer Hope The heat under Charlie Strong’s seat can’t seemingly get hotter but if Texas loses this game, then the Longhorns have TCU & Oklahoma up next meaning Texas could easily start the season 1-5 and even then it doesn’t get easy as they’d host Kansas State in Game #7! The Cowboys are ranked and the defense has been playing well despite the lack of competition in their first 3 games. It’s really interesting to see the fall off of Texas after Mack Brown was sort of forced out. A loss here could be deafening in Austin! Computer Hope
Computer Hope I have to admit I’m pulling for Mississippi State here. The Bulldogs almost beat LSU a couple of weeks ago & rebounded with a blowout win over Northwestern State. Now they travel to Auburn against a Tigers team that has to be reeling after getting blown out against LSU. It’ll be interesting to see if Gus Malzahn can right the ship for Auburn. I had War Eagle winning the SEC before the season began so the talent is definitely there. A win over MSU would not only be meaningfull but could put Auburn back on the right track. Computer Hope
