No Sleep Till Football

Like Brooklyn, Except It's Football!

Computer Hope Easily the best game of Week 5! The implications of this game are pretty huge. The winner (especially if it is Clemson) establishes themselves as the best team in the ACC with a prime shot at getting to the playoffs. This might very well be a preview of the ACC Championship game. I can’t wait to see how the Hokies gameplan here. Clemson’s defense is NASTY but VT plays a run heavy ball control offense. Can they keep the ball away from Clemson? Computer Hope
Computer Hope USC needs to get healthy. Last week against California they played without RB Ronald Jones & DE Porter Gustin. Can they play without them again & beat the Cougars? Probably, but I don’t think the Trojans can play sloppy ball & win in Pullman. Washington St is averaging 44PPG so far. Their defense has been suspect against offenses with a pulse so the trick to pulling off the upset is the defense giving up 40 points but the offense scoring 44. Computer Hope
Computer Hope The Bulldogs were destroyed by Georgia, a team that I believe is a top-5 squad. Auburn was beat by Clemson, a team I believe is arguably the best team in the nation. It’ll be interesting to see how Hail State rebounds in the 2nd of back-to-back road games. Auburn put on a clinic last week in beating Missouri, but it was Missouri! The Bulldogs did a great job of shutting down LSU’s rushing attack and they’ll have to do the same to Auburn to win. Computer Hope
Computer Hope A sneaky good game. If you just look at the names, you’d think this is a blowout win for the Hurricanes because it’s Duke for goodness sake. However, Duke beat a Baylor team that just gave everything they had to Oklahoma. They beat a Northwestern team that some thought had a great chance at winning the Big 10 West. They beat rival UNC in a great come from behind win this past week. Advanced metrics love Duke. Miami can’t overlook. Computer Hope
Computer Hope It’s interesting that both of these teams are 3-1 & playing each other because a win here I think takes each on a different trajectory. The loss to Kentucky stings a bit for SC, but this is still a talented team that can potentially win the East. Texas A&M has looked a little shaky in all 3 of their wins but if they beat the Gamecocks, they’ll be 4-1 with a fluke loss to UCLA. If they finished that game and were 5-0, would we be talking about a top-10 team? Computer Hope
Computer Hope If Iowa got a 4th down stop we’d be talking about a 4-0 Hawkeyes squad that you’d have to put in the top-10 due to their win over Penn State. If not for a lot of miscues & turnovers, Michigan St. comes close to beating Notre Dame. If the Spartans pull that off & get to 4-0, you’d have a squad that beat the Irish just like Georgia did. So how good are these two teams really? Both will be salty after their losses & I think this is a fork in the road game. Computer Hope
Computer Hope The last time Florida St. started the season 0-3 was in Bobby Bowden’s first year in Tallahassee back in 1976 when the Noles finished the year 5-6! It’s also incidentally the last losing season Florida St. has had since! NC State showed that a team could potentially beat FSU if the young QB is off and the opponents D-Line is spectacular. The Deacons aren’t as good as NC State up front, but DE Duke Ejiofor is solid so a perfect game by Wake maybe? Computer Hope
Computer Hope I actually don’t think Tennessee has any chance at this game, but if those hairy DAWGS come to Knoxville and play like they did against Mississippi St., the Volunteers are going to get humiliated in front of their home fans & that could be the final nail in Butch Jones’ coffin. The Vols BARELY beat Georgia Tech. They didn’t play that well against Indiana St. and they lost to Florida. They struggled with UMass. Does a loss here signal a coaching change? Computer Hope
Computer Hope There is absolutely no stopping Bryce Love at this point so Arizona St. is going to have to bring their A++++ game to have a chance to beat Stanford on the road. At this point would anyone really be surprised if Stanford ran the table & finished 10-2 to win the Pac 12 North? Does an 11-2 Stanford team that won the Pac 12 prevent the conference from getting a playoff team? Another reason to watch is ASU RB Kalen Ballage. He’s a beast. Computer Hope
Computer Hope Vanderbilt ran off at the mouth a little too much and like Baker Mayfield to Baylor, Alabama had to remind Vandy who Daddy was. That doesn’t mean Vanderbilt can’t play a little football and they’ll give the Gators a very tough test in the Swamp. Vandy QB Kyle Shurmur can play a little football, but it’ll be key for the Commodores to play a perfect game because they’ll be outmatched athletically. Can Vanderbilt slow up the Florida defense?
