SIAC Week 6 – Match Ups

This week’s slate of SIAC games (plus Washington) don’t hold much in way of upset potential. Mater Dei, Memorial, Reitz, Washington & Central should all cruise to wins this week. If there would be one interesting game, I think it’ll be Central visiting Bosse. The Bulldogs have a lot of team speed & have shown they can score on anyone. Losing to Mater Dei 31-21 is a huge boost to morale in my opinion. Central’s offense is simply too powerful for Bosse to stop so the Bulldogs will have to try & match Central blow for blow. This is definitely a game where Bosse’s depth will be a problem which will lead to an easy Central victory. However, I think Bosse has the team to pull the upset if they play out of their minds. I think Bosse has an upset in them & this is their last chance to get one. They certainly aren’t beating Reitz & I think they should be favored against Harrison. It’s now or never for the Bulldogs.

Let’s get to Week 6.

This game gets good b/c Bosse only lost to Mater Dei 31-21. #19 (Class 4A) Central should win, but it is a road game. Central’s defense has been bad at certain times this year & Bosse has the speed to exploit it. Central’s offense will be too much though. Central wins, but Bosse keeps it interesting.
Mater Dei is going to blow out Harrison. The Warriors suck this year so this is pretty much a gimme for the #3 (Class 2A) Wildcats. Harrison is having a tough go of it. They are lucky they got that early season win against West Vigo or they still might be adding to their streak of losses.
After losing to Castle, you simply can’t have any faith in North. #12 (Class 3A) Memorial will feel like it’s playing junior varsity football after a treacherous first half of the season. Memorial’s defense is simply outstanding so Memorial hammers North in this one.
#1 (Class 4A) Reitz needs to get healthy. Castle isn’t a very good football team so I think Reitz could probably put in the 2nd string guys and come out with a victory. Maybe they should as the Panthers need to get healthy before the playoff start. At a minimum, everyone should be 100% by the time Mater Dei rolls around.
#7 (Class 3A) Washington goes on the road to Mt. Carmel (IL)! Mt. Carmel actually beat Mt. Vernon earlier this season by 7. Washington killed Mt. Vernon. I don’t think it matters where the Hatchets play. I’m going to continue to think they’ll dominate whoever they play until an opponent proves otherwise.
