Barnes Going for Top-10 at Riviera!

With the rain, the Northern Trust Open has gotten a bit haphazard with multiple rounds being played on the same day. Ricky Barnes finished up his 3rd round this morning, and I’m excited to note that Barnes fired a 2-under 69 to push his 3-day total to a 7-under 206 through 56 holes.

That’s good enough for a tie for 8th place along with Y.E. Yang, Anthony Kim, Steve Marino & Alex Prugh. Barnes is 2-strokes off 2nd place, but he’s 8-strokes behind leader Steve Stricker who is sitting atop the leaderboard by 6-strokes at 15-under par.

Stricker has bee ridiculous shooting his 1st 3 rounds at 4-under, 6-under & 5-under respectively. The bad news is that it looks like my man Ricky Barnes won’t pick up his first 2010 win at the Northern Trust Open unless he goes crazy today and Stricker completely chokes. On the other hand, Barnes has a very real chance at moving up and getting a 2nd place finish. Either way, Barnes once again this week has a chance to end the tournament with his best finish of the nascent 2010 PGA Tour season!
